Is my ID being stolen???

Recommended Posts

Guest Frank_Nabbit

My yahoo mail account and ebay account both have the same "Name" and for the last two days I've gotten invalid "password" when I attempt to log in. My other yahoo mail email works fine, but the one that is not working is connected to ebay, and my ebay account is linked to my credit card and bank accounts.

So has someone stolen my ID or what?

Do you have a PayPal account that's linked to both the Ebay and Yahoo account? If so, this story might be of interest to you. Apparently someone has managed to obtain passwords from merchants, but no credit card information.

Do the forgot password stuff on both and see if you can get it that way. It'll either ask your hint question or send it to your main email address you listed with them. If that still doesn't work contact them.

How high of feedback do you have on eBay? If it's a fairly high number, there's a good chance someone targeted you with a fake eBay email. I had the same problem last year by simply opening the email (not even replying). Since I stupidly had the same password for both my yahoo account and eBay account, both were taken over. I got both back eventually with no real damages done, however.
