The Greatest Video Packages Of All Time

Recommended Posts

Guest Askewniverse

The History of the WWF set to "Lonely Road of Faith" is probably my most favorite video package of all-time. Just about every major star is included in the video.

I also liked the video package for the Rock-HHH Iron Man Match at Judgment Day 2000. The whole "in one hour" thing was pretty cool.

How was the Freddie Blassie video tribute? I only caught the end of it but it looked great and I love "My Immortal". I watched the weekend shows with VCR ready but I must have missed it.

I don't remember which PPV it was, but it had words throughout the opening that said "Know gold, know power...No gold, no power."

Backlash 2001 :)

Main event was Austin / Helmsley Vs. Undertaker / Kane

Yep, since all the belts were at stake.

Great video package, bad match. :)

Ugh, thanks for reminding me of Backlash. My fucking cable hook up didn't allow PPV, so I had to watch Backlash, Judgment Day AND King Of The Ring vias scramblevision.

First time since Survivor Series 1993 I had to do that.

I loved the recent video packages shown for ex-WWE Superstars who passed on in 2003 and Mick Foley's video package shown on Raw.

Oh, and MrFuji'sHat, that Freddie Blassie video was the former video that I mentioned - as well as him, it paid tribute to Stu Hart, Elizabeth Hulette (Miss Elizabeth), Michael Hegstrand (Road Warrior Hawk), Michael Lockwood (Crash Holly) and Curt Hennig (Mr. Perfect).

I've updated the opening post, too - I can't believe that I forgot mention WWE Desire videos.

I'm not sure if the post was rushed or something, but Blassie had his own video tribute when he died, and it aired on Raw & Smackdown. I taped it but I need to remember where it's at.

In case you meant their was a video for just Blassie, then discard this post.

I'm sorry - My mistake.

It wasn't rushed - I can't remember his own tribute video, but I didn't miss a Raw or SmackDown!, unless the video aired in late August-early September.

I did that for every PPV from Backlash 2000 through Summerslam 2001, but I had sound.

I like the Armageddon 2000 package for the 6-man Hell in a Cell with "The End is Here".

Another good one was the Ric Flair tribute set to Kid Rock's "Cocky". There was something cool about having all those vintage highlights set to a contemporary song.

Never seen it, anybody got a copy of this?

When the HELL was this?! I thought Cocky was the Royal Rumble 2002 theme, with "What?!" inserted by Austin every time.

When I was in high school, at least, the Kane-Taker package leading up to Wrestlemania 14 was pretty cool.

I just watched WWF WrestleMania X-8 on DVD again, and I must ask about the pre-match video packages.

I mean, where the hell were they?

Austin/Rocky from WrestleMania XIX is awesome. The final part when the two are shown flashing in similar poses is awesome. I think someone on this board has this part as their avatar...

How nice would it be if WWE released a dvd with all the best packages they've done? That would be so awesome.

Oh and for me, I guess one that hadn't been said was the HHH U2 video. It hyped me for his return..then reality set in.

Yes, Rock/Austin from WrestleMania XIX was a ****3/4 video package. Even though it's rather corny to use the Pay-Per-View theme song as it's theme, it's fitting.

A DVD covering WWE's best video packages would suck in that it would inevitably overhype the subtle beauty of a great video package in more ways that one.

But if it didn't, I'd love to see it.

The closing moments are still pretty awesome.

"REST... IN... PEACE"

Oh and the best part of Lonely Road of Faith is the segueway into the Attitude portion when Bret does his little WCW thing and then cuts to Vinnie and Shane just waving him goodbye...

I saw this when it first aired but have NEVER seen it since. It's nto on KAzaa or any sites and WWE has never replayed. I'm dying to find it again.
