While I'd like to see a review of Undertaker/Brock, I have yet to see the tag team ladder match.

Tag match, please.

I'm trying to remember the date...the best Dragon-Ki for me was ECWA 7/01 with Ricky Steamboat as the ref.

Oh, haven't seen that one. I've only seen the one I reviewed, their ECWA Super 8 Finals, and the APW King of the Indies finals.

The Match: The Hardy Boyz vs. Edge and Christian

The Event: WWF No Mercy 1999

The Stipulations: This is a ladder match, and is the final match in the Terri Invitational Tournament (TIT, hehe). Apparently the winning team gets $100,000 (which is hanging above the ring) and Terri’s managerial services.

The Hardyz shove Edge and Christian, who retaliate with punches. Christian with a back body drop to Jeff as Edge hiptosses Matt. The two teams fight it out at ringside. Back in, Christian whips Edge into a spear in the corner on Matt, and Edge whips Christian into a clothesline in the opposite corner on Jeff. Edge and Christian try to get a ladder from ringside, but the Hardyz stop them. Matt clotheslines Edge out of the ring. Jeff grabs the ladder but Edge dropkicks the ladder into his face from the apron. Matt clotheslines Edge off the apron. Christian then takes out Matt with his second rope springboard plancha from inside the ring.

Christian climbs the ladder back in the ring, but Jeff pulls him down. Jeff climbs up the ladder but Edge pulls him down as well. Edge climbs the ladder but Matt pushes it over and Edge falls backwards to the mat, with the ladder landing on top of him. Christian hits Matt with the ladder. Jeff and Christian then fight over the ladder, and Christian shoves the edge of the ladder into Jeff’s gut, driving him into the corner. Christian then runs up the ladder and dropkicks Jeff in the face. Edge and Christian with a double whip on Matt Hardy, sending him into the ladder, which is set up in the corner. Edge and Christian try their own version of Poetry in Motion, but Matt moves out of the way, and Edge slams into the ladder.

Jeff Hardy starts climbing the ladder, but Christian nails him from behind and hits a falling reverse DDT off of the ladder. Christian climbs the ladder, but gets belly to back suplexed off of it by Matt Hardy. Matt then climbs the ladder, but Edge powerbombs him off of it. Edge now climbs up, but Jeff nails him with a missile dropkick, knocking him off the ladder. Matt slams Edge on the ladder and Jeff flies off the top with the Swanton Bomb, driving him onto the ladder. Matt now sets up the ladder in the corner. Matt splashes Christian into the ladder, and then Jeff hits Poetry in Motion, driving Christian into the ladder. Matt and Jeff pick up the ladder and clothesline Christian with it. They set the ladder up near the corner, and Jeff climbs to the top rope. He then slingshots himself over the ladder, before landing a legdrop on Christian. Awesome. Jeff puts the ladder on top of Christian, and Matt hits a top rope moonsault onto the ladder, squashing Christian between the ladder and the mat. How could that NOT hurt?

Edge nails Matt with another ladder. Jeff climbs the first ladder, but Edge throws the other ladder at him, knocking him off the first ladder. Edge hits Matt with a ladder and puts it in front of him in the corner. Edge then catapults Jeff into the ladder in the corner, sandwiching Matt in between the ladder and the corner. Edge climbs a ladder but Matt throws the other ladder at him, knocking him off. The Hardyz both pick up the ladder and charge at Edge, but he ducks and rolls underneath it, and Christian flies off the top with a crossbody into the ladder, knocking the ladder down onto the Hardyz. Edge and Christian slide the top of a ladder into Matt’s groin as he sits in the corner, and then dropkick both sides of it into his groin! Ouch. Christian sandwiches Jeff in between a ladder and slams the one side down onto him 10 times. Edge then gives his own partner a reverse powerbomb onto the Jeff Hardy ladder sandwich. Edge and Christian give Matt a double stungun into the ladder in the corner.

Both ladders get set up side by side under the belts. Edge climbs one, but Jeff climbs the other one. Edge grabs him and hits the Downward Spiral off the ladders. Edge climbs back up, but Matt meets him up there and hits a neckbreaker off the ladders. Christian and Jeff climb up opposite sides of a ladder, and Christian gives Jeff a hiptoss off the ladder. God damn. Edge hits Matt with a ladder. Christian sits Jeff on the top rope. Edge and Christian put one ladder on it’s side with the second ladder on top of it. They try for a double superplex onto the ladders on Jeff, but Matt stops it. Jeff then jumps off the top with a legdrop, landing on the ladder and driving it up into Christian’s and Matt’s faces in a spot known as the see-saw. Except, see-saws are fun, and this did not look fun at all for Christian or Matt.

Both ladders get set up next to each other again. Edge and Matt climb up opposite sides of one ladder while Christian and Jeff climb up opposite sides of the other. Edge knocks the ladder that he’s not on over, causing Jeff to hit the ropes and Christian to be crotched on the top rope. The other ladder somehow gets knocked over, sending Edge into the ropes and Matt clear out of the ring. The ladders get set up again, and both teams fight it out atop the ladders. Edge pushes Matt off of one ladder, causing him to stumble into the ropes, and bounce back, knocking over Jeff and Christian’s ladder. Christian falls to the mat as the ladder does, but Jeff jumps off onto the other ladder with Edge. Jeff then knocks Edge off the ladder and nearly kills himself by taking a deathfall off the ladder, but he brings the money down with him as the Hardyz win the match in 16:35.

One of my favorite spotfests of all time and definitely worth seeking out if you haven’t seen it. Lots of innovative uses of the ladders and crazy bumps. A lot of this stuff was carried over to the TLC matches, but not all of it. No blown spots either, which is amazing, considering the difficulty of some of them. The fans were way into the match, and keep in mind this is the first time most of them had ever seen all of these spots. Definitely one of the better ladder matches ever, ranking right up there with Razor/HBK from WM10. ****1/2

Might be a bit off topic here, but I saw something I wanted to reply to:

Obviously Japan and NA wrestling is completely different, it's like night/day.

This is really one of the biggest wrestling myths on the internet. They're not completely different. Jumbo Tsuruta trained in America with Dory Funk and Lou Thesz. I've seen Benoit/Guerrero wrestle in NJPW. I've seen Benoit/Guerrero wrestle in WCW. They're nearly identical.

And there is no way in hell that there are 20 matches in Japan that are better than Flair/Steamboat from '89 and Austin/Hart '96-'97.

Why are you so sure about this? Have you seen many Japanese matches?

Steve Austin is my favorite wrestler ever and I adore his series with Bret...but I could easily name over 20 superior matches from Japan. I could name only Toshiaki Kawada matches and still get to 20 with ease. There's just an enormous amount of high-quality wrestling from Japan.

Hardyz were heel, E&C were faces.

Thanks forgot to mention that. The Hardyz, along with Gangrel, comprised the "New Brood" at the time, because E and C had turned face prior to this match. However, the Hardyz would leave the Brood shortly after this match, because they earned Terri as their manager.

Real F'n Show if you can in the near future would you write a review on a Japanese match? Even thought me and Ray disagree most of the time I agree with Ray on his stance about the Japanese matches being superior. At least that's one thing we agree on ;)

Well guys, I was hoping I'd get the review done before I went on vacation, but it doesn't look like that will be happening. I'll be gone until the 31st, but expect a review the day I get back, or the day after at the latest. Sorry again, but feel free to keep this topic bumped if you wish. You can discuss my reviews or whatever. Thanks.

They fight over a suplex from the apron, and Dragon gives London a suplex back into the ring. Irish whip to the corner from Dragon, but a blind charge meets boot. Another blind charge, and again he meets boot. There’s a reason that that is the dumbest move in wrestling. London with a fucking STIFF clothesline and some kneelifts. London slowly heads up top and flies off with the London Calling shooting star press! 1…2…3! London wins the final fall at 11:17! The time of the match is 37:42.

The best Ring of Honor match that I’ve seen, barely topping Low Ki vs. American Dragon from 3/30/02. This is also London’s best match ever, as Dragon kept him from getting spotty, and forced him to have one hell of a match because of it. Tons of build and heated nearfalls, and a great story to boot. After London won the first fall, Dragon did everything he could to make sure London wouldn’t win the second one. London played a perfect underdog and the fans went crazy for him picking up the win. I think the drama in the match could have been better, as the crowd was a little quiet at times, but at other times there would be dueling chants of “London!” and “Dragon!” that gave the match a good feel. I’ve yet to see Joe vs. Punk from 6/12, but as it stands right now, this is the best match Ring of Honor has produced. ****1/2

Misawa and Akiyama elbow each other, and Akiyama misses a jumping knee strike, allowing Misawa to elbow him. Akiyama rolls out of the ring to recuperate. Akiyama gains a nearfall on Kobashi. Kobashi tries to fight back with chops, but Nagata spinkicks him and Akiyama nails Kobashi with an Explodah! Kobashi kicks out at 1!?! Akiyama with a jumping knee strike to Kobashi in the corner, followed by another Explodah! Kobashi kicks out at 2! Akiyama gives Kobashi a wrist-clutch Explodah! He covers, and that’s enough to put Kobashi away at 26:52.

The crowd was totally expecting Kobashi to win his return match too. Nice little story here, with Kobashi’s knee being the focus of the heel’s of course. A good finishing sequence, although the crowd went dead as soon as Kobashi got pinned. Kobashi did a great job in his return match, selling a lot more than he usually has in the other matches I’ve seen him in. The other three were awesome as usual as well. Great work all around, but nothing to make it really stand apart from a lot of the other All Japan/NOAH tag matches. Still a great match. ****
