I completely stopped paying attention to this company after last year's Mania (and unfortunately I missed Benoit's Royal Rumble victory), but I stopped watching again a couple weeks ago because I heard Benoit was champ. And Eddie is champ is terrific. But they haven't really been pushing either guy like they should (what the hell kind of company doesn't push their champs?), and there was a great shot I'd stop watching again pretty soon.

 

So I've been lurking here the past couple weeks. What I was watching was pretty underwhelming...until this. I mean, WOW. I totally marked the **** out. I quite literally jumped out of my seat and pumped my fist in the air. That was awesome.

 

The internet is going nuts over this Benjamin's victory. Go to mark wrestling boards and smark wrestling boards, the reaction is the same: total pandemonium. The WWE just hit the jackpot.

 

Now let's see if they can capitalize on this, or if they drop the ball.

When Benoit was coming down to the ring, I thought it was an elaborate hoax by Evolution and Shelton. I hope it is still not that way and Shelton turns on Benoit. They HAVE to keep Shelton as a face due to his reaction. I was disappointed at the beginning of the show when he was portrayed as a face. I think a good way to start a singles career off is as a heel, and let them evolve into a face over time. However, as soon as the ME started, I was glad Shelton was a face. Let's hope they don't fuck it up.

Yeah, I thought Shelton was going to suck as a face too, but he had good presence in his segment with Bischoff and good ring presence, too. He seemed like a real threat, not some jobber babyface.
