Guest OSIcon Report post Posted April 4, 2004 The difference between putting on a live show and a taped show is HUGE. What's the numbers or source of this information? I tried finding stuff about it online but that didn't come up with anything. Just curious because "HUGE" doesn't say much. I am talking strictly about the technical costs related to broadcasting a show live rather than via tape. I am going by the assumption that TNA would still be doing weekly tapings so as far as the regular costs are concerned (flying wrestlers in, paying them, renting an arena, ect.), they would stay the same. Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted April 4, 2004 I believe I've read stuff that Meltzer has written in the Observer that said it's more than double. Maybe we should just email him, as that seems to have been working around here lately?
BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I got all my info from Wade Keller. He said they would need 25% more buys for a monthly ppv than they currently get for a weekly one to break even and I have no reason to doubt him.

If you go ahead and email him, let me know what he says because I am interested in finding out the strictly technical numbers involved with going live. Not that I don't believe you or am trying to win an argument or anything, its just an interesting topic to me.

Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Dave emailed me back. His response: "Don't know the answer. It would save them money, though." So that doesn't really tell us anything.
