My computer randomly restarts itself

At totally random times my computer screen will go black and a few second later the computer shuts down and then boots back up. After this random restart everything is normal and the computer is fine.

 

I ran a virus scan every week and I'm clean

I run Ad-aware and Spybot every week

I have 32 gigs of free space

 

 

So does anyone know what would cause my computer to randomly restart? I was thinking that maybe it overheats, but I'd think that would cause it to shut down not restart.

Could be overheatings... but I would suspect a bad power supply.

 

You don't get any kindof warning right? Just switches off?

Have you installed any new hardware recently?

 

My friend got the same problem when he decided to add more ram to him computer. Once he removed the new ram, the problem disappeared.

I would say power supply then IMO. Cost about 15 bucks or so. After that then you would need to look towards the fan on the CPU or possibly the HD.
