Guest Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Having seen a recent post which talked about Bradshaw's limited moveset, I was wondering who in the current WWF roster has the most moves that they can pull off well. Surely Benoit is up there?
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 I'm struggling to think of many, which is sad. Benoit, Angle and Jericho would be the main ones, I think. Hurricane has quite a lot too.
Guest Brian Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Benoit was the best. Everyone else was too punch-kick. Except for Eddie.
Guest Lucha Hogan Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 You got to be kidding me! Without a shawdow of a doubt it`s the Hulkster!
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Can't argue with that. I mean, the guy can SCRATCH!
Guest Dace59 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Benoit have a massively reduced move set in the WWF. Same for everyone. I could post it, but I can't be bother.. if anyone asks for someone move set, I will try and post as much as I know of it.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 How about Kevin Nash?! I was thinking about this the other day, and I came up with: Jack knife Snake Eyes Big Boot Side Slam Foot choke, elbows in corner And thats it. Any more?
Guest Dace59 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Strikes are not counted neither are high flying moves, generally. They don't involve wrestling still, just timing and gymnastic skill. So the boot, foot choke and elbows in the corner would be out. He also does knees in the corner. I don't know what use of the word moves you're using, but the basic stand is that it means grappling moves (eg suplex, powerbomb) and strikes (pucnhes, kicks etc) and flying attacks (moonsaults, cross bodys). I guess your taking it as any moves, strike or bit of flying a wreslter does... Define it, and that's what goes, it's all subject... it's opion on what you call a move.
Guest razazteca Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Whose Better thanKanyon DDP during his feud with Raven & Beniot DDP had a different variation of the Diamond Cutter for every match Dean Malenko is the man of 1000 holds
Guest Zack Malibu Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Right now in the WWF, I'd have to say Van Dam or Angle has the biggest moveset. Hurricane comes pretty close, too. Tajiri would be up there, but they've only limited him to trademark spots (Tarantula, Big Kick) rather than let him go all out. Plus, how much can your moveset matter when guys in the main events use each others trademark moves?
Guest razazteca Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Strikes are not counted neither are high flying moves, generally but if they are trademark moves then it must me considered, I think anything beyond the basic punch and kick should count. With that in mind I think Regal, Jeff Hardy, Eddy Guerrero, RVD have more than 5 moves to wow the crowd.
Guest Austin3164life Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Shane Helms (Hasn't been able to fully show off his arsenal) Kurt Angle Chris Benoit Rob Van Dam (Read: Shane Helms) Chris Jericho (Getting more used to Sportz Entertainment style) Steve Austin (Sadly, now, only when he wants to)
Guest saturnmark4life Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 People like Malenko, Eddie and Angle have like 10,000,000 reversal sequences, not just solid 'moves' and regal is still largely experimental with his stuff, doing about 2 NASTY moves every now and then. It's true that heavyweights have a better knowledge of how to work matches rather than bust out 100s of suplex and powerbomb variations. It's more of a cruiser ideal.
Guest Dace59 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Any move reverse ends up in a move. So you count the move it ends as ( or even the reversal in some rare cases ) More moves the better as far as I'm concerned, makes it far less predictible. Helms used to bust a lot out in OMEGA and WCW (mustly over rated and ripped off, but still good) Benoit have lost over 90% of his moves in the WWF. Such as Powerbomb whip, super powerbomb whip, figure four sleeper (done with legs) bow and arrow, inverted indian death lock, inverted indian deathlock with bridging inverted chin lock, dragon suplex hold, top rope drop kick, tilt a while back breaker, tombstone. etc etc....
Guest Singular Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Hurricane suprised me with a Chokeslam in a cruiser match. I would have said Eddy G. Before he left the WWF the first time. I guess I'll have to waiut until after this match with RVD to see if he's going to bust out some of his sweet moves. Lasso from el Paso kicks ass.
Guest bravesfan Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Kurt Angle (and to a extent, Steven Regal) introduces a new move to his moveset in EVERY match.
Guest godthedog Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Kurt Angle (and to a extent, Steven Regal) introduces a new move to his moveset in EVERY match. what television have you been watching? the only move i've seen him do that he doesn't normally do is the belly-to-belly from the top rope. what new moves has he introduced in the last month?
Guest y2jailbait Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Well, Hurricane Helms is The "Sensation of Innovation". You dont get that nickname from Tony Schivanie And Mike Tenay for Nothing!!!!!!!
Guest godthedog Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 kanyon is another one known as a big innovator. i believe i read on his website that he tries to incorporate a new move into every match (this was, of course, shot to hell when he came to the wwf, but oh well). and, as opposed to rob van dam (who just does a lot of flippy floppy shit that's supposed to be sold as credible offense), kanyon's maneuvers look like they actually hurt.
Guest Dace59 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Kanyon is one of the very few true Innovators of Offence (unlike Nova) He does some F'n great stuff.
Guest razazteca Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Kanyon in WCW was the man, especially when he was working with Raven and DDP in tag teams. Fear the Top Rope Flatliner!!!!
Guest Brian Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 Regal's just been re-adding moves lately. Alot of moves he hasn't used in a while are slowly being brought back. For a while he really did go to the shit and was just brawling, and if you didn't like his brawling to begin with, you were going to hate it because he wasn't nearly as stiff or able to mix it up with the mat stuff.
Guest The Armchair Booker Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 In case you didn't know, these guys have probably limited there moved set for a reason. Vinnie Mac has been noted as saying (forgive me if I can't remember) that only using so many moves is sometimes a good thing. Rather than just using a vast array of moves, a limited (though not necessarily small) move set trains the audience. Thus, for example, the fans will pop everytime they see a belly to back from Kurt rather than if he did different suplexes every match (yes, I realize he time to time uses different ones). When you become familiar with somethin', it gets a better reaction from the crowd.
Guest Austin3164life Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 Yeah, but only for a short time. True, it's nice seeing Angle's crisp Belly to Back suplex in every match he wrestles in, but if he comes up with an innovative suplex (or whatever move) it also introduces to the audience something better and more fresh, not staying with the established move all the time......
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 kanyon ddp eddie benoit angle malenko

Guest Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 If you notice usually the people with the biggest move set put on the best PPV matches of the year and when they have the time to really tell a story and work on the leg or back with different moves. When HHH is in a PPV match like from No Way Out 2001 he busted out a few different moves as did Austin. During regular TV you have to entertain the crowd in the shortest amount of time.
Guest The Armchair Booker Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 Oh yeah, but I'm not sayin' I particularly like this practice of purposely limiting moves sets, I'm just sayin' Vinnie Mac uses this. And to a degree he is right. And when they bust out those different moves on PPV now and then, it makes the match all that more special.
