Guest RickyChosyu Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 My god, did the WWF actually manage to accidentally stumble upon a halfway decent-looking PPV that should have something for everyone? RVD-Eddy, Kidman-Taijiri and Angle-Edge should all be good --> great, Hogan-HHH has a lot of star power and Austin-Undertaker is a classic rivalry. I know I'm looking at this through rose-colored glasses just a little, but ON PAPER, this show looks better and more diverse than anything the WWF has given us in the last little while. Let's see if they pull through. Well, the booking has been shite, but I'll agree that ON PAPER the show looks more appealing than Wrestlemania did, to me, at least. Then again, HHH/Hogan will be an obomination and is as borring a feud as I've ever seen. Austin/Taker has been going on since '96 and lost it's drawing power in '98, so that's a waste even with Flair involved. The Tag Titles still mean nothing, Angle's still being de-pushed and Jericho isn't even booked on the card. Maybe I'm being TOO negative to compensate for your possitive attitude on this, but I'm not exactly that big on the WWF right now, so there you go.
Guest Loss4Words Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 I'm not too high on the WWF lately either, it's just that there are three matches which should all hit at least *** if they get enough time. I think Jericho is going to have to save the main event in much the same way Stephanie "saved" Wrestlemania. Usually, irony takes a little more time to play out than one month in wrestling, but at least Jericho is still in the thick of things I guess. It's just amusing that he's done better promos to build the match than either HHH or Hogan.

Eddy/RVD should be fun but has a deffinate potential to fall flat from being too spotty. Edge/Angle could be good, but their KOTR final last year was really dissapointing and not worth mentioning at all. As for Tajriri/Kidman, I'm still at a loss to why this has even been booked for PPV. They should have just done the turn in the first TV match and got it over with. Speaking of that match, it was nothing to write home about and Kidman has done nothing of note since coming to the WWF. I remember he and Taj having another TV match last year that was outright bad, if anything. Plus, Tajiri is at the inbetween face/heel spot, so his heat is gone, and more importantly, the booking of the inevitable turn will probably overshadow any kind of match these two can pull out. I doubt it will even get to ***'s. Yeah, Jericho is doing better work against Hogan and HHH than either of them, yet he's still not booked and is being de-pushed along with Angle, and they seem to have booked themselves into a corner with HHH/Hogan, so a screw job finish looks to be in order, which is going to make an already terrible match look even worse to the fans.
Guest Loss4Words Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 My 2.6 cents: "Well, I'll assume the three you're referring to are Eddy/RVD, Edge/Angle and Tajiri/Kidman. Eddy/RVD should be fun but has a deffinate potential to fall flat from being too spotty." I tend to agree, but if Eddy can get a great match out of Super Crazy on the indy circuit and Super Crazy is incapable of doing ANYTHING besides aerial moves, I think we may have something here. The crowd could go either way here, so if they're smart, Eddy will do lots of cheating and trash talking early on so he'll be as over as his opponent. Of course, I don't know why I'm worrying about Eddy Guerrero getting heat. That's like worrying about HHH forgetting to take his nutritional supplements. "Edge/Angle could be good, but their KOTR final last year was really dissapointing and not worth mentioning at all." True once again, but Angle had also wrestled several times on that PPV and Edge was still in limboland between face and heel. I don't know if it will be great or even good, but it does have the potential to be if Angle reigns Edge in a little and Edge can expand his moveset away from just doing weird looking DDT variations and spears. "As for Tajriri/Kidman, I'm still at a loss to why this has even been booked for PPV. They should have just done the turn in the first TV match and got it over with. While Kidman hasn't done anything great just yet, he's also just now being firmly entrenched in a storyline with a good worker. He had a haphazard match with Taijiri on TV that I do indeed remember, but PPV *is* a tad different so we'll see what they can pull off. The match will probably lack heat, that much I agree with. I just hope the WWF eventually realizes that Kidman can get his character over through his actual ring work, which is a rare quality that worked to his advantage in WCW. Kidman is the underdog chick magnet, so he needs ring time and some women, I'd suppose. "Yeah, Jericho is doing better work against Hogan and HHH than either of them, yet he's still not booked and is being de-pushed along with Angle, and they seem to have booked themselves into a corner with HHH/Hogan, so a screw job finish looks to be in order, which is going to make an already terrible match look even worse to the fans." I'm NOT looking forward to HHH v HHH, I can assure you. This I agree 100% with you on. If Jericho can at least do commentary during the match, it will improve tenfold. Babyface v babyface matches are only good when both are over and HHH has the heat of an ice cube in Alaska. Pretty bad when Hogan's the stronger character going into a match.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted April 21, 2002 Report Posted April 21, 2002 If everything goes smootly, Austin/Taker can reach ***, but both guys will have to work hard.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted April 21, 2002 Report Posted April 21, 2002 Well, Taker's been working harder lately and Austin seems motivated enough, so it'll probably be decent.

Guest Posted April 21, 2002 Report Posted April 21, 2002 Triple H probably told someone to vote for that match over and over so he and his friends can dominate the upper-cards after they bury Angle, Austin, Jericho, and Van Dam.
