TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm really enjoying the Old School taped interviews that they're doing on RAW. I think they started with Foley, and now each of the guys in the Triple Threat ME at Backlash. Is this the beginning of a new promo style for WWE? Will we never again have to sit through twenty minute promos from HHH-uh?
Guest JMA Report post Posted April 13, 2004 The pre-recorded promo is one old-school thing I dearly miss. Now all we need are the CRAZY~! vignettes.
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 I really liked it as well. Didn't have to sit through the entrance music and all that garbage. I also think they should do more backstage interviews. Again it cuts out the entrance music and walk to the ring, gives the interviewer a little camera time, and someone can still jump the person if they need that to get the feud over. TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 Here's why I like them: It helps maintain focus on the feuds. - As great as it is to get crowd reactions, they can sometimes drown out the importance of what's being said. It prevents people from getting overly bored during the show. There's nothing worse than someone taking eight minutes to yak on the stick when they could say it in two in front of a camera. It builds tension between the confrontations. - I prefer hearing what the wrestlers have to say, and then seeing their opponents reactions when they have a match. The cheap shot at the end of a promo is a little over done. Old school promos are much more intimate. - It feels like HHH, HBK, and Benoit are telling US what they feel about their opponents. They want us to understand them, not each other. The match gets more emotional that way
