SD! Title Hunt-Who deserves to be there?

Recommended Posts

So we're all pretty much in agreement that JBL/Eddie will probably suck but I want to give the feud a chance for Eddies' sake simply because I want him to have a long title run. Let's get some ideas on where Eddie should go next....I personally think that after JBL Eddie needs a match with Booker T to settle the score between them but a feud with Rey is what I'm waiting for...face vs. face...give me your thoughts folks.....

Eddy should wrestle faces.

Since the pushing of Bradshaw pretty much means they are counting on Eddy to draw by himself...I see no reason to keep up the face vs. heel charade.

Make Eddy the "fighting champion" who faces guys like Rey, RVD, Booker...anyone who's popular on either side of the heel/face spectrum.

I'm not sure what they have to do with eachother.

Eddie can have a long reign with out a Bradshaw feud.

Eddie/Cena is money. People want to see Cena get a big title shot, that much is certain, if it's with a worker on the caliber of Guerrero, that's even better.

They're going to go back to Angle when he's ready, so that's assured. But I think they built Eddie up as a tweener face, extremely popular but not the most honest or the best of character. I like the idea of having him go up against faces. I say finish out the JBL feud, go to Angle, then Booker or RVD (while Angle sets up Cena), then Cena, and put over either Booker or RVD for the title. That should get him a nice long reign, and bring a lot of guys into the title picture. I actually wouldn't mind JBL so much if he was just a piece of the picture and not a focal point.

Oh, I'd agree, but that sounds more like something for Summerslam rather than a nothing solo-brand PPV. Of course, on the other hand they need a strong match like that to sell a SD PPV, so it probably would be a good bet for one.

I'd say next PPV, post JBL, Show gets the shot, then Booker, and then Cena/RVD, depending.

Finish it out next Thursday.

And save Angle for much later. Build up a storyline where GM Angle keeps putting obstacles in his way before finally taking it into his own hands.

Sets up?

I can't argue with that. I'm just kinda thinking out loud.

Puts him over, gives him some credibility. Because he's not going to beat Eddy, but he's going to have to look strong.

Yeah, I agree with the keep Angle away sentiment.

You're asking for another Angle/Cena feud, aren't you.

I'd say after the locker room confrontation and all that Booker has said about Smackdown!...the brand that Eddie has wrestled for and is now Champion of qualifies as a score that needs to be settled but I see your point..they haven't started the build-up for that eventual match up yet....

...and as far as JBL goes...everybody is pissing on this fued like it was a bar-room toleit and I don't want it to tarnish Eddie as Champion in the process..

I cannot think of a single reason why Angle should not job to Cena before he retires. It's a smart business move in every sense of the word.

I don't care about him jobbing (hate the stupid as offense, but oh well) but I don't think I can sit through another feud.

Find a way to book a match without feuding him.

Plus Cena needs the experience of working with better workers. He can't keep on working squashes.

I think they could book an Angle/Cena feud without midgets this time.

Smackdown obviously has a lack of strong heels right now. Triple H being there would've really helped out. But alas, that isn't going to happen. Kurt Angle has to heal up before he can get back in the running for the title. Once Angle is healed up, he should hand over Smackdown to Paul Heyman. JBL should be used as a Jobber to the Stars, and not as a serious contender. As of right now, I'd say Booker T is the best bet. He's a multi-time World champion and has co-headlined WrestleMania. They could build up his credibility by having him beat someone big, like The Undertaker.

You would think that, but I doubt it.

Cena needs to bring out a revenge midget.

And we both know they're gonna be rapping at eachother.

Would putting Show with Long be a help or a hindrance? Show is the sort of strong heel SD really needs right now, but he doesn't really need a manager.

Long also isn't exactly proven to be of much help to anyone. Sure, he hasn't had much to work with, but he hasn't produced any more than expected, either.

Yeah, he brings some entertainment where there really is none, but he's not exactly a Paul Heyman-to-Brock-Lesnar manager. He's too gimmicky and goofy to buy as a serious heel manager you want to hate.

As Angles' boy I hope that Charlie Haas gets on a major run and gets a shot as he is becoming one of the better workers on SD!...I like the idea of Eddie going through challenger after challenger until Angle returns to handle things himself..out of the many GMs of the WWE he may have the best reason to hate the main face on his respective brand...I mean Eddie stopped his last title shot at Mania..

Let's be realistic:

Cena will call Angle gay a bunch of times.

Angle will flip out and kick his ass a couple times.

Cena will be the plucky face, and people will love him just like his dad Sting in the 80's.

The match will have insane heat.

Those are the only real definites.

Why not turn Taker?

Well, maybe if he was there all the time, that would work. But how effective would it be if he was only there half the time?

I thought it went without saying that he should be there all the time to do that.

Reward him for a job well done in 2003.

I actually don't mind Bradshaw, as long as this gimmick stays interesting.

All I know is that Angle has to be the champ when Cena goes for the title. Angle has been the one guy that has beaten Cena time and time again. The story would sell itself and would make Cena's win more memorable.

I forgot Taker was even on the show.

What the hell are they doing with him anyway? Last I heard he was being used as a house show attraction, squashing Booker.

It's not surprising to forget about him. :P

For 'Taker, they wouldn't even have to turn him.

Guys ready for a shot now inlude Booker T, Rob Van Dam, John Cena and The Big Show.

There are also a number of lower/(mid)-card talent that can be elevated, so I think that they should be alright for a while.

Oh, and don't forget Kurt Angle when he fully recovers.

Note: Did you know that Bill DeMott and Mr. McMahon are still officially on the SmackDown! roster? ;)
