Guest ian. Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Ok, got back from this show about an hour or so ago, and it was awesome. Only half the arena was available for seating, so about 5000 attentended. Mars Volta played about an hour set, consisting of only two songs. One was about 15 minutes, the other a 45 minute jam version of a song. Not too familiar with their song titles, but they made me a fan tonight. Half hour break for shit to be set up. Perfect circle comes out and the crowd pops huge. We start off with Pet, which got the crowd going. Forget what song was next, perhaps Orestes or The Hollow. Best performances of the night were 3 Libars, The Package, The Nurse who Loved me, and Judith, which closed the show. As soon as it was over, they bowed and left, and after James got off stage they went right to tearing the set down, dashing my hopes of an encore. Maynard is a rather funny guy too. He went off on a little rant about Scott Weilend, going as far to call his new band 'Junkie Trainwreck' and threw out a Jackson is a pedo joke. All in all, excellent show. Too bad everyone was dead for Mars Volta, they were rather well live. Picked up their cd at a stand.
Guest JebusNassedar Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Repeat the two lines from the Mars Volta songs you heard clearest. If one was "Now i'm Lost": Ineratic ESP If one was "Exoskeletal" or something similar: Roulette Dares. If one had "Is anybody there": drunkship of Lanterns. If one had "Is this Wrong": Eriatarka (which in this case, you're a lucky bastard) If one had "I'm Defective": Cicatriz ESP If one had "I've been waiting": This Apperatus must be unearthed. If one was acoustic, may god have mercy on your soul. If one was total gibberish, it was probably Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt. Either way, it's good that you got the Cd. And I had the same gripe. In fact, I heard people say that Mars Volta was terrible. which is confusing. And I'm glad you enjoyed APC. Someone had to. Because they were shit when they played in SD. No, not the shit. Just garden variety shit. But they do have a lot of hot chicks in their fanbase. I'll give them that one.
Guest ian. Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Ok, first song was Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt, second was Cicatriz ESP, which went 45 minutes. I'll tell you what though, the singer REALLY gets into his shit.

B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Sounds like it was a damn good show. I've seen TOOL, and have been wanting to see APC for the longest time. Throw in The Mars Volta, and I'll have a 2 1/2 hour non-stop markout. "Junkie Trainwreck" is a classic.
