Dillion Traded to Patriots

Thank God and the bengals are in Great Shape as they have 7 draft picks in the first 100 picks.

And maybe even more if Kitna gets traded as well. Marvin doing one fine job.

Why the fuck would you trade Kitna after the season he had? To rest your hopes on Palmer who has "bust" written all over him? I'll pass, please.

well they made it pretty clear that Kitna aint playing unless Palmer breaks his leg or something, so that might as well trade him while they can get something good.

I don't know what you're talking about. This is an extremely deep draft through the first 3 rounds.

I said experts are saying this. All they mean is a team like New England, or Philadelphia wouldn't really be hurt trading down because the difference in talent between pick 21 and 35 isn't that great. If anything, it shows the depth of the draft.

It is deep with potential from what I have seen.

But I think what Verne is trying to say is that there aren't 32 guaranteed things (as much as can be).

I just believe Palmer is a system QB. Hell, Texas Tech QBs are the same way. He didn't put up great numbers in his Heisman year, and Leinhart has already showed potential to be a MUCH better QB at the NFL-level. I may be wrong, but we'll see...

Palmer always had the talent too be a great QB. It just took Norm Chow for him to realize it. It sounds like he's got his head on, and I think he'll be a great NFL QB.

Rant is correct. The comments I heard today weren't meant has a knock on the depth of the draft.

Why piss away a really good young QB for an exceptionally unproven young QB who will definitely not make your team better next season?

...Let's not forget that Palmer wasn't exactly hot stuff BEFORE his senior season at USC

I believe it was in Palmer's contract he become the starter his 2nd season. Besides, he's the QB of the future and eventually was going to start. Better to get this out of the way know, than the team not knowing who the starter is at Camp.

My point is... Kitna was the shit last year. Him, along with R. Johnson, Peter Warrick, and Chad Johnson brought the Bengals back to glory. Kitna is looked up to as a leader on that team and has, y'know, CHEMISTRY. I always felt Palmer was overrated, and him starting this upcoming season just establishes it (until he proves something to me, of course).

But he can't prove himself sitting on the bench.

I rather have a proven winner starting for me, thanks.

No.

In his best year ever, he still only managed 8th or 9th in the NFL in passer rating and threw 15 picks. And that was with a quite explosive pair of receivers. I am not saying he is bad or is not capable of a Rich Gannon career revival, but a decent QB who lead a team to an 8-8 record isn't enough to me to stop Palmer.

But Palmer's USC stats, outside of his senior season (and he still didn't deserve the Heisman) were nothing special.

He has Weinke written all over him.

It is certainly possible that Palmer turns into a bust, but I don't see Kitna as the QB to lead them to the promised land. So is turning Palmer into the starter worth the risk as opposed to Kitna making this a decent team? I think so.

Kitna got an extension through the 05 season. That should put to rest any thoughts of Cinci getting rid of him this year.

Getting that extension doesn't mean anything, unless he got a huge signing bonus or other "bonus" money to go with it. The non-guaranteed contracts in the NFL are just that: non-guaranteed. Not being privy to the details of his contract, I can't say whether they'd cut him or not, but just his having contract run through '05 means nothing.

Anyway, the Bungles should stick with Kitna, I think, unless Palmer has really shown something that makes him the obvious favorite (and if he has, I don't know about it...Bengals info isn't all that common down here). Kitna was surprisingly solid last year, and the Bengals actually had a positive season for once. That's somethign they can build on, and I'm not sure I see the logic in dumping a guy that helped get you there just because you "have to" play the #1 pick.

That was before Norm Chow arrived. It was never about Palmer's talent. It was finding someone to help him find his full potential.
