New Japan Announces Intentions To Sign Steve Austin

 

The bidding war for Austin begins...

 

New Japan Pro Wrestling told the Japanese media today that they intend to sign Steve Austin. Austin is currently the biggest name for the Japanese promotions to go after. Austin wrestled for New Japan while under contract with WCW in the early 1990s.

 

Meanwhile, Pride's HUSTLE events will also be an option for Austin. Goldberg works with the HUSTLE series and he and Austin have had interest for awhile now in working a bout together. The two are good friends. Austin has been in talks with HUSTLE for weeks now.

 

One possible option for Goldberg and Austin is to wrestle each other in Japan, then use the footage to air a one time only U.S. PPV.

Zach.com had a post four days ago saying that DSE is definitely the next company that Austin will be working for. That doesn't rule out NJ as a possibility after he faces Goldberg, though.

LOL, looks like your gonna be the first one in Dynomite Kido's sights. How come New Japan couldn't have the Austin vs Goldberg match? Hasn't Goldberg worked for N.J. before?

Goldberg is under contract with DSE, who does the HUSTLE shows. NJ can't pull him away in the first place, and they don't have the kind of funding necessary to pay Austin what he's used to getting.

a.) Dynamite Kid is probably the MOST bitter personalit in wrestling since Z-Man and youre on his paralyzed sac yet you think its horrible that Stone Cold is gettin a chance in Japan

 

b.)Far worse people with 0 to no name value have mained in NJ like Tada Yasuda, Yuji who got squahshed so much before he won, and more. Austin can only be good especially how stale NJ is.

Wow, your getting better.........at not seeing my point. I never once said anything about anyone being bitter. So that point isnt remotely valid AT ALL. I like Dynamite because of what he did when he was wrestling, not now. Also I enjoyed Stone Cold his entire career, until he was too broken down to wrestle yet continued to do so. Second off, I wasn't making any sort of assessment whatsoever on the guys that NJ brings in or who they already have. Also, instead of acting like a four year old and saying what you said, why don't you try and give some good points to why you feel differently, otherwise I highly doubt that anyone will take you seriously and you won't last long here. So next time you flame bait someone, maybe you should try using valid points instead of sounding like a jackass.

Austin isn't a stranger to New Japan at all, he wrestled there throughout his time in WCW (hell he tore his tricept in NJPW, which led to his firing and the creation of the Stone Cold character in the first place).

 

Problem with Austin in NJPW, is that the only guy he could really work with is Chono, because with his neck the way it is, Austin can't work anymore. I also don't know if Austin and Chono have any heat (it was Austin who broke Chono's neck).

What irony that you comment on my spelling errors. How about you not to resort to curse words either? I actually made a point that Austin has made WWE A LOT of money and that usually translates well in Japan, regardless of if they can wrestle or not. Yasuda, Midcard Nagata, Midcard Nakamura, Chyna, etc. have all been high profile in NJPW so heaven forbid they try and bring someone in who actually makes money and do some cool main events with him. I can see you're not one of the better people to discuss puro with as you don't discuss, all you do is swear. Right on Shane Douglas!

Honestly, the only thing NJPW could do with Austin that wouldn't be totally counter productive to having him there, would be to stick him in the Makai Club and have him constantly run interference for the group. Either that or do what they have going with Hogan, just work the big Dome shows.

I don't see how he expects to wrestle in Japan if he couldn't handle wrestling in the WWF. I mean NJPW is going to be a lot harder on the body than the WWF style and considering McMahon was banning moves left and right.

 

EDIT: I guess the only good thing, if you can call it that, is they can do Hogan/Austin.

...but, as already mentioned, Austin in New Japan is unlikely since a) DSE already got to him, and b) NJ can't aford him.

 

More likely, we'll see Austin on those horrid HUSTLE shows.
