Allow me to take a shot in the dark. Based purley on the type of character it is, the show is going to be on KidsWB or whatever it's called now..?

Kirby is still around? I had no idea there was a Kirby anime in Japan.  By the way, on a totally different topic, I hate when people say "it's not a cartoon, it's anime!" A cartoon features animated characters.  Even if an anime is comprised of computer-generated animated characters, the fact that there are still animated characters makes it a cartoon.  Anime fans are so damned egotistical about their cartoons - just because a cartoon occasionally has developed storylines and intelligent storylines doesn't make it any less of a cartoon, and doesn't automatically make it enjoyable either.

In conclusion, ACME HOUR 0WNZ J00! :P

It's anime? Aw crap. I hate anime. Anime is so poorly drawn, my 5-year old cousin could draw something better. Now that Cartoon Network shows anime, I refuse to watch it. There should be more classic cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Superman, Popeye, and the rest(anime don't count as classic because it's poorly draw and isn't that popular in the U.S.).

Horseshit. DBZ is more popular right now than any US drawn cartoon. Just because you hate anime personally doesn't mean you can make blatantly incorrect statements.

In a few years, the Dragon Ball Z fad will be dead. Disney is more popular than Dragon Ball Z because it's classic animation and lots of people like it. It will be around longer than Dragon Ball Z. The Japanese cartoons suck. They're horribly drawn and the characters speak too fast. I bet the American cartoon characters can beat the Jap cartoon characters. My statements aren't incorrect. Jap cartoons are dying a big death in the U.S. In a few years, Jap animation will be dead. I bet my 6-year old cousin could draw something better than the Japs.  As for you, you troll, you need to get on out of here.

I don't mind the anime style of animation, but a lot of it does have too many things going on at once. And they seem to be in love with using stills with a swirling background...every anime I've seen has used a still of a character, slowly moving across the screen, with the background being nothing more than a few colors moving in different directions.

As for my real turn-off of anime...the storylines. It seems every storyline revolves around an alien, a robot, or a big mechanical suit. Do they know how to do anything else in Japan? Of course, my buddy Steve came up with a good reason every anime involves aliens/robots/mechanical suits: that's all they have there. Yeah, Steve's random, and he's the man...

I, too, prefer the US style of cartoons. Mainly because they're so slapstick-funny, and meant to be so.

As for DBZ being more popular than any US drawn cartoon...ask people all over the US (fuck that, THE WORLD {and this includes adults as well}) who Piccolo is. Then ask them who Elmer Fudd is. Get the hint?

Well, most Japanimation deals with heroes, anti-heroes, etc., etc. so it's kinda expected for them to have things of that nature.

But, hey... I've always said that anime is an aquired taste and if you don't like, you don't like it. And personally, I got tired of US cartoons by the time I got 10 years old. I was a HUGE Daffy fan, but after seeing him constantly humiliated by Bugs Bunny(who I detest), I stopped caring. I DO love the Fox X-Men, Batman:TAS, and Spider-Man series though, and Justice League kicks ass as well, so I guess there IS hope yet for US stuff.

BTW, I think Digimon is the best cartoon running on ANY network today, not saying that I'm some expert or anything, but it has better storylines and more character depth than anything else I've seen lately. Oddly enough, it doesn't involve robots/aliens/mechanical suits(not dissing ya, Corey, just saying).

Wasn't the Digimon animated series created just to cash-in on Pokemon's success? And yes, I have to agree with you...it's a rather enjoyable show. But it still suffers from the "use a still as the background whirls" thing, which I despise the most out of anything anime. Main reason why Poltergeist Report and Akira are the only animes I can really stand (and I love both), as they don't use a whole lot of "still with whirling background" scenes.

The only cartoons I watch are the Simpsons :) and Family Guy which will be cancelled :(

I agree about the whirling backgrounds. That gets extremely annoying at times and really does seem to be a staple of all the recent(and a few of the older) animes that have come out.

Sad that nowadays, "Kirby" is associated with a pink Pokemon prototype, not the legendary comic artist who helped create Captain America and the Fantastic Four...

Not ALL Anime centers around an alien, robot, or a big mechanical suit. Vampire Hunter D and AKIRA had neither and those were good.

And I might watch Kirby, the only cartoons I watch now are the Brak Show, Simpsons, South Park and Clerks, so I need more animated characters in my life...

Oh goodie. Someone else hates crapime(that's what I call anime). Besides characters like Mickey Mouse and Popeye are worldwide icons, whereas, Goku and Pikachu are not.

Hell, I don't even know who Goku is...I'm so out of touch, eh?  I have NEVER seen an episode of Poke/Digimon and I don't plan on watching one anytime soon.  I still don't understand why everyone made such a big fuss over those stupid cards.

>Hell, I don't even know who Goku is...I'm so out of touch, eh?

Not really.  I like some anime (basically mecha/robots) but I don't know who Goku is.  It sounded Dragonball though, so that's what I assume it is...

>I still don't understand why everyone made such a big fuss over those stupid cards.

Simple.  The popularity of CCGs thanks to Magic: The Gathering combined with cartoons, video games, and the massive marketing power of Nintendo...

Obviously, more people know Elmer Fudd than Piccolo. I'm sick of Cartoon Network showing anime shit rather than classic shows like The Flinstones, The Jetsons, Popeye, and Tom and Jerry. Cartoon Network was meant for classic cartoons, not anime.

RetroRob215 and starvenger, in case you're wondering, Goku is the star of that horrible show Dragon Ball Z.

Heh, maybe he'll be like Jigglypuff and kick everyone's ass for laughing at him. I loved that shit in Pokemon.

Oh, and Starvenger has a Nova avatar making him the coolest person on this board. NEW WARRIORS~!
