Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Any Capcom experts want to explain something? I took one of those internet quizzes yesterday, it was called "Which Street Fighter are you?" And I got Cody. I said to myself, when the hell was he in Street Fighter? How exactly did the main characters of Final Fight get involved in the Street Fighter franchise (Cody, Guy, Rolento, Sodom, Hugo, etc.)?
Guest Coffey Report post Posted April 22, 2004 They were thrown into the Alpha mix. The game was designed by Yoshiki Okamoto, who was also responsible for the Street Fighter series. When Final Fight first previewed at a Japanese trade show, it held the title "Street Fighter 2". However it was criticised that it looked nothing like the original Street Fighter game - so it became an original game instead called Final Fight. After the games success, Yoshiki Okamoto was given the choice of making a sequel to either Final Fight or Street Fighter. Of course he chose the latter and released the ground breaking Street Fighter 2.
Renegade 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 I'm not up to scratch with SF storylines, but read here http://orochi.com/sffaq/ but yeah gamewise they were in Alpha, and Hugo in SF3
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 That's officially one of the coolest pages ever. It reminded how great Sagat is, and I never knew Cammy was apart of Bison's stable. I always thought she had something to do with Guile. Meh.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2004 Why was Cammy from England in SSF2 and Greece in some other one?
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2004 Why was Cammy from England in SSF2 and Greece in some other one? Cammy's always been from England, and that's her canon place of birth. I don't know what you're talking about unless it's something in that boneheaded U.S. SF movie or movie game.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2004 Street Fighter Alpha 3, she fights in Greece Actually, from that site, we're both wrong. Every once in a while, I see people complain that Cammy's voice actor is never English. Well, as you can see, Cammy's official bio now lists her birthplace as ???. More proof that she is in fact genetically engineered (besides how it's officially stated). Yep, Cammyfans, Cammy is in fact NOT natively English. This is probably why Capcom never gave her an English voice actor (though this doesn't explain why OTHER English speaking characters in the SF series seem to have CRAP for voices . This would also be why Cammy doesn't have a month with country designation like the rest of the Dolls. If she were the same as the rest of the Dolls (IE, an actual kidnapped girl instead of a clone), then she wouldn't be made to stand out from them via the name process even if she was the best/top Doll. Then again, I never really liked Alpha 3's f'ed up sci-fi approach to the story, but it is supposed to be canon. So apparently, they gave her that birthplace since she doesn't have a real one, or at least none that Capcom decided upon. Regarding a certain Zangief dislike: I have no comment. ....well, okay. Got the official confirmation. Yes. Zangief IS gay. Makes me look at his SF2 ending at... quite a new light, now. "You dance very well, Mr. Ex-President." And one of his CvS2 win quotes is "My body is perfect! I should be in a magazine!" Oo I'm not sure if that proves things there, but it's true that he's gay. Hmm... well, Japanese culture is generally more open to characters being gay despite no stereotypical indications... which is actually kind of cool, really, since stereotypes suck. Unless you're homophobic, of course. ...rather amusing. Poison's bio also clears up a confusion I had before--she/he had a sex change.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 I'd like to see someone explain Street Fighter 2010. Why was Ken wearing a bodysuit and fighting aliens? You can probably consider that unofficially struck from canon, since Capcom never talks about it and it was a pretty bad game with no real connection to the rest of the series. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 Why the outrage, Deon? I originally had believed Vega was a bit funny, because of the bishie-ness about him, as well as his vanity (narcissism often is a sign of repressed homosexuality), so he's probably bi. Still, no explanation as to why Ryu was once a redhead or why Guy was once a white guy.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 I don't think I'd take everything that FAQ says as 100% truth. Naw, some of it doesn't really list any support, but a lot of it is game-supported. I'd forgotten about the Alpha 3 stuff, although I'd played it.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 ZANGIEF IS GAY!?!?!?!?! Yikes, didn't see that coming. Guess excessive bear wrestling has that affect on a man. UYI
Anya 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 Naw, some of it doesn't really list any support, but a lot of it is game-supported. Well, if it's supported in game then obviously it's real but some of the more interesting things(like about Poison) is not only second hand info, but fan translated. Also, look at the thing about Poison being a guy.... Poison is a "new-half", meaning a person who got a sex change. Poison is a GUY. A guy with breasts, but a guy. This is official. This has been official EVER SINCE FINAL FIGHT ONE EXISTED. However, most USA players wouldn't know this at all, due to lack of storyline publications in the US and the fact that Poison didn't even EXIST in Final Fight One for the USA version. Capcom of USA thought that Poison was a girl (they STILL didn't know she was a guy by Final Fight Revenge, for crying out loud), so when Final Fight 1 came to the US, they changed Poison and 'her' pallet swap, Roxy, into generic male punks, Billy and Sid, because censorship was high back then and they feared people wouldn't like the idea of hitting girls. This is nonsense. Poison and Roxy were in the original arcade version in the US and were in the Sega CD version. The cenorship and change to Roxy and Sid was only for the Nintendo ports. Obviously Capcom USA had no problem with Poison being a girl, it was Nintendo that objected. A quick check on MAME shows this. If he's innacurate about something like this, something easy to look into and verify, what does that say about everything else he's saying? There is a guide set up just like this one but for MK that is really good.

I must say, Zangief is the most bad ass homosexual ever, even though if I had to guess which SF Fighter was gay, I'd say Vega. That guy is very feminine. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 There's always hair dye you know. Ryu doesn't seem like the sort to do that. Sakura: You sure? Well, some one should have a correction sent in. Final Fight One for GBA has Billy and Sid I'm sure, but I don't recall Roxy/Poison. I'd have expected Nintendo would have loosened up by now about it. I haven't played the CD version of Final Fight, though, nor the arcade.

Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 Speaking of hair dye, it always bugged the shit out of me how Ken has blonde hair and black eyebrows. And its funny looking at all of Guile's artwork that the man has no eyebrows whatsoever.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 Speaking of hair dye, it always bugged the shit out of me how Ken has blonde hair and black eyebrows. And its funny looking at all of Guile's artwork that the man has no eyebrows whatsoever. According to that guide, at least, he's 3/4 Japanese and his hair is colored, so that's why. As for Guile--eh, he's blonde, so they're practically invisible anyway, I guess.
Anya 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 I haven't played the CD version of Final Fight, though, nor the arcade. That sucks for you, since they're a lot cooler than SNES. SNES has more than just Poison censored too.
