Independence Day Sequel Not In The Works

 

Director reveals the truth.....

 

Director Roland Emmerich recently told SciFi.com that a sequel to Independence Day is not in the works.

 

"Everything sounded like a repeat, and we don't want to do repeats. At least, I don't want to. We went to Fox, who'd already given us money. We said to them, 'Guys, we have to give you your money back.' It's probably the first time that's happened. We're very, very disappointed, but what can you do?"

I haven't seen the first one in years, but as much as I liked it then, a sequel for that movie would just be looking to be a joke.

Good call by the director. Sequels shouldn't be made just for the hell of it.

 

A film like Independence Day works better as a stand-alone movie.

It barely works as a stand alone.

 

This is the first I've heard of this project and they already had the money. Am I alone on not hearing about it before now?

I heard about it. And my ear is nowhere near the ground in terms of Hollywood.

 

I think ID4-2 should have been made from the Aliens perspective where they are just trying to save their race and wanted friendship from those evil earthlings... cept they are portrayed as humans with Bill Pullman, Will Smith, the stuttering guy, and Harry Connick Jr., Randy Quaid, in important alien power positions.
