WWE News Folder

Recommended Posts

With all the talk of thread pruning and need for space, wouldn't the General WWE News Folder be a good idea to try once again? I know we started it at the beginning of the month, and I think it would catch on after everyone got used to it. There were a few complaints about it, but none too legit, what about it?

If I recall correctly, several threads today had the same news in it, which means either people don't know how to read, or just don't care.

If there was a WWE News folder, what would be left to put in the WWE folder? Raw & Smackdown threads? Thoughts on new wrestlers/gimmicks? I don't know if we, as a majority, have the creativity to make two WWE folders successful. We have the activity, but what else could we talk about?

I'm not saying I'm against the idea, I'm just curious. I am actually a fan of the idea, because I don't really care to read the wrestling news. Personally, I just like to watch the shows and discuss what has actually happened on-camera or what's being groomed to happen. I'm not talking about role-playing or what I'd like to see. I'm talking about commenting on Hell in a Cell matches in general after a new one has been made for the next PPV. I don't care if Randy Orton slipped on a bar of soap or it Mordecai didn't shake Droz's hand. If it's big news, then it will most likely be an active topic...thus something like "Goldberg is released" would be viewable simply by scrolling through all the forums and seeing what the last replied to thread was.

If this is going to happen, it can't just be a pinned thread at the top of the WWE folder. It would have to be it's own section of the website, just like Music, Games/Toys, NWA:TNA, etc. That way threads can be moved by the moderators, and eventually people would catch on. If it's just a stickied thread, people will ignore it...much like the stickied threads currently at the top of the WWE folder.

"People... don't care"

...which is another problem. Not just in regards to the new folder idea, but in general. Laziness can only be blamed for so much. How much lazier can you be? You're sitting at a computer talking about wrestling.... People don't care to read what others write. They don't care to spellcheck their own post before submitting it. They don't care about difference of opinion. Why should we care about them?

This would be a good idea if we had a huge amount of traffic *and* almost all of it had some substance to it. But since most of it is flaming, flame baiting, smark v anti-smark talk and emoticons, with a few exceptions -- there are some quality posters in there of course, I think doubling the places to put that information will just encourage most to post more crap, and that's the last thing we want at this point.

So, I guess the answer to your question is no, probably not.

The main reason that I'd be against it is because yeah, the news works well for conversation in the WWE folder.

The main reason I've brought this up is because so many people have complained about glennsoe, gearhead, etc. starting so many threads. If you post the gossip crap in a folder then it prevents all the pointless threads people complain about.

And yes, I know it's been discussed before and the like. Slacklet pointed that out to me a few times. I just think it would be helpful.
