Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted May 22, 2004 I judge Punk like this --- a lot of people seem to think he is great. He did nothing of note in TNA, but TNA stuck him in lame tag matches that were so formulaic you could've used anybody and nobody could have made the matches good. So, is he good? I have no idea. -I agree with the part that says how he was stuck in a lame duck position that anyone could have already been placed there and it wouldn't matter. That I DO understand, but the part of you not knowing if Punk is good or not is exactly what I am talking about here. It's better for you to treat this situation the way you see Punk. I haven't heard you say anything overly negative about him? If you have your "shot" and blow it --- it's your fault, not mine. I have no desire, whatsoever, to look up matches of his that might be good. When he HAD my attention, he did nothing whatsoever to make me view him as anything more than an "eh" worker. If he impressed me AT ALL, I'd likely look for his work. But he didn't. So you'd rather take the bitter "he didn't impress me the first time I say him so he will always suck and I will point it out" viewpoint? I would think that would be slightly hypocritical especially viewing it from the viewpoint you gave above about Punk. Petey hasn't been put in a position to come out and shock the world. He's been put in very menial matches that don't really do much for you except for show some of his basic stuff and very little moveset. I wouldn't consider that a fair chance as every other match he's been in for TNA has been a tag match or one with multiple tag partners. He was never given sufficient time to work a singles match that would give you an idea if he was good or not. That is TNA's fault.......not the worker. No, it means that when he works in America, his work is crap. It's not an issue with Eddy --- but if a guy ALWAYS works MUCH better overseas that he does in America, then why should an American viewer view him as anything more than a blase worker? Heck, Stuart Scott, back when he was in Orlando, wasn't the annoying troll he is on ESPN right now. I know, because I watched him. Does that mean that people who view him as an annoying on-air "personality" now are wrong? No, it means that he IS an annoying troll on ESPN. His national exposure has been one of increasing irritance.[/espn] See, you are making this a moment in time issue and not a "this guy works better in other companies" situation. I am sure that Stuart Scott wasn't as bad in his Orlando days as he is now, but that's what ESPN wants him to do. So in turn that is what he does. Plus, this relates very badly to wrestling IMO, so I'll stay away from it as I see it as a moot point. Then we'll disagree here. Anybody who won't put forth their best effort here doesn't DESERVE respect. If you find US not worthy of your best work, but the Japanese audience DOES deserve it --- then that worker can just rot. And Hogan's matches tended to be the same match, time after time. I guess we will disagree on this one then. I am NOT trying to change your opinion of Hogan so once again it's a moot point. But you also can't deny that some smarks treat some indy groups with kid gloves and can become bigger marks for their company than any fans on Earth (I call it the "ECW Syndrome"). Not to flame you here and I don't want you to get pissed about this, but that's how people view you on this board. You are very anti-TNA in some threads and that's how people were judging you. I don't feel that way, but I don't account for the TNA boards opinion of posters either. ECW fans will always have that "Syndrome" find me someone that feels that way about any Indy fed outside of TNA or ROH and color me surprised. Petey did nothing to impress me. I won't waste my time finding more of his work to disprove my notions. If he was moderately impressive, I WOULD spend the time to see more of his work. -=Mike That is fine, I wasn't asking you to. But then don't get upset when people take your opinion on here for a grain of salt.
