Guest MikeSC Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 OK, I was peruisng NRO and I saw a mention of this: There are shari-a courts in Canada? Is this actually going to happen? The piece mentions the Arbitration Act of 1991 as being the legal justification for these courts and mentions that while the Canadian court system could likely override any of these decisions --- the women who these courts would impact would have a hard time actually getting access if their rights ARE restricted. So, is this scenario even REMOTELY plausible? Are there loopholes in Canadian law to permit such horrific institutions to arise? http://www.websamba.com/noshariacourt -=Mike
Highland Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 I don't see this happening. I sincerely hope not.
