Uploading WMV, MPEG, and MOV files

Recommended Posts

I have Windows Movie Maker on the new computer I just got, but not on the one I'm using right now. I want to make a music video using the WMV, MPEG, and MOV clips I have on this computer and make the video on the other computer. I don't have any disk that has a enough space to save an entire music video to, so I'm going to have to upload what I have on this computer and then redownload it on my other computer. My question, though, is what web sites allow me to upload my WMV music videos on this computer onto the net, so that I can redownload them onto my other computer? I'm not paying money or anything, so the service has to be free, and since I'm relatively new at uploading videos (I've uploaded web pages, but never video files), I'd prefer if it's relatively straightforward in terms of how to get started.

Thanks so much.

I'm basically trying to do the same thing, only I used Adobe Premiere and the movie is HUGE (like 3 gig) even though it is only 16 min. I'm trying to figure something out, but I know geocities.com gives you 15mb and angelfire gives you 20mb, so that is a start.

Maybe encode the video with divx or whatever codec you like then use a video splitter program to cut it into smaller segments then upload it to your website.

I think Easy Video Splitter/Joiner would work.

Christ, that's ridiculous. Download TMPGEnc. It converts video files to mpeg form. That way the file size should shrink down to 160 MBs with the quality still being great / good.

I know money is a factor, but what you guys need to do is network your computers. Depending how close these computers are, it could be as simple as buying two ethernet cards (one for each computer) and a crossover cable (hell, you could make one), and enabling sharing on a given folder. It's basically a one time cost and should be under 50 dollars. It's much faster than uploading to and downloading from a server somewhere.

I have three computers networked at my house, but I don't understand how this would help me. Please explain.

I'm sorry, I misinterpreted your message, drdrainoscott (i.e. I just read "I'm basically trying to do the same thing" haha). Razazteca and Deon Dark already explained how to get the file smaller (Premiere has a bunch of different encoders within it (wmv or divx are the best for web based video)). In terms of free sites to host your file it's almost impossible. Once a couple people download it, the site will go down.

It seems to me that LucharesuFan619 is trying to transfer files between two computers rather than simply upload to a website for others to download. It's much quicker to transfer over ethernet. By the way, uploading a file is the same as uploading a webpage. I've been told to transfer non text files in Binary mode rather than ASCII, but I've done it in both and didn't have a problem.

Sorry for the confusion.
