Ghost Stories

I thought I knew my girlfriend pretty well but recently she surprised me by telling me of her firm belief in ghosts. She told me about one that 'hung out' in the elevator of the building she lived in. Kind of a banal ghost story really.

 

But it got me thinking. Does anyone else here believe in ghosts or spirits? If you do, have you met one or got a good ghost story to tell?

I've heard a LOT of stories, from many, many people (my mother included) that are varied in weirdness and credibility.

 

I think it's possible that if you spend enough somewhere you leave your makr there, so to speak.

The only supernatural factor I believe in is Karma. I've seen some weird stuff myself, but there's perfectly logical explanations for them.

There's always a possible logical explanation... and the supernatural is always possible for those who WANT to believe.

The existence of the ghost is almost irrelevent to what I was talking about AoO, when looking at whatever "evidence" complied by either side. One goes in with definite predjudices (Call it the Mulder/Scully Syndrome), the same evidence is tainted by the human desire to believe in something more than this mortal coil. Thus, it's impossible to sway a skeptic or dissuade a true believer.

 

Ghost sightings are as old as recorded history, there's something to them in my estimation.

So I'm chilling at my uncle's house by myself. They always told me the place was possessed or something, I thought it was just nothing. Everybody went out to go do something (have dinner, etc.) so I'm watching TV and there's a screen door to where his bedroom is. And the thing was closed. Next thing, you know. I see the door slowly open. So I'm like WTF. I check inside the room, nobody's there, same with his bathroom. I look around the house, all the doors and windows are shut. Air conditioning is off. Everything is silent except for the TV. So I'm like "Oooooooookay." So I get on the couch and watch TV again and then I see the door slowly close. I get freaked out, leave a note saying I was going to be at my buddy's house, locking the front door behind me as I left.

 

Sure, it happened about 8 years, but I still get creeped out about it from time to time.
