Quickie Star ratings and thoughts:

JJJ's opening promo was useless.

 

AMW vs. NYC **1/4 Solid but dull tag match. Plus they attempted some psycology...

 

Michael Shane vs. Chris Sabin ** Boring match. Nothing HORRIBLE, but they could have done alot more.

 

Shark Boy vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. David Young vs. DRay 3000 *1/2 Just a blah match. Sonjay looked great as always though.

 

Team Canada vs. Lynn/Metal/Garza **1/2 Some cool spots from Team AAA (due to their experiance with the six sided ring, I wager) but not a whole lot else.

 

3LK vs. Jeff Jarret **3/4 for the whole shebang, mostly for the ending with the Truth.

 

AJ Styles vs. (Frankie) Kazarian *** Great build with Kazarian controlling up to the big turning point spot, the suplex to the outside, and then the sprint to the finish. Sadly the finish was botched, with AJ overshooting on the spiral tap and Kazarain kicking out... or something. I was busy marking out (and falling over in horror when he overshot) for the spiral tap, so I missed the three count...

 

OVERALL: An average show. It was solid, but there was no real stand out moment to make anyone want to go and watch it again (or order if they didn't already) 6/10....

Did anyone else notice that when they showed clips of Impact, they showed stuff that didn't air? They have to do a better job catching stuff like that.

Was it just me or did anybody else notice the insane amount of botched spots last night? It wasn't a bad show, but I cringed a few times last night at some of the fuck ups.

I think those matches were tapes for DVD releases or something. I read somewhere that they are planning a DVD of "Exclusive" matches that were never broadcasts anywhere, which could be interesting, but might be a disaster because people won't be able to buy the DVD based on how could the matches are. According to Meltz, they taped the usual Xplosion squash matches before the PPV last night.

Nothing really jumped out as me except for Rude screwing up the powerbomb and of course, blown finish '04.

I lost a little bit of my soul to that spiral tap last night. I mean, I jumped STRAIGHT UP in my seat, and then fell over like an Anime character when someone says something stupid. I've been waiting for over a YEAR to see him bust it out again, and he FUCKING overshoots! That sucks. Oh well.

I was soooo into that match last night. I was on the edge of my seat and for awhile, I had no idea who was going to win. Except the Deadly Draw match, I haven't been completely sucked into a TNA match (or any match) for awhile. And when Styles went up top, I thought what a great way to end this match, and applauded the psychology of him winning his third X title the same way he won his first. And then they blew it. It could have been covered up, which it looked like Kazarian wanted to do, but the ref counted the three anyway. I'm not sure who to blame, as I don't necessary think it was Kazarian or Styles' fault, and I'm sure the ref was instructed to make that count, but that finish blew it for me. It sucked the life out of me. I had to watch the match again to even remember how good the other 19 minutes were.

The match still got *** outta me. But I think it would have been higher if AJ would have hit it and the crowd would have gone INSANE.

 

Both guys looked pretty out of it. Maybe they concussed themselvs on teh Superplex? (That got a Joey Styles like OH MY GOD out of me, btw)

Yeah, I usually don't get into star ratings, but I'd give it a solid *** to ***1/2. That finish took at least 1/2* off though. And the pop would have been great if they got the finish right. And yeah, that superplex was insane. I think I let out an OMG too.

Can someone explain why Sabu doesn't talk. I never knew the story behind that.

I always assumed it's because he doesn't really sound like someone from India.
