This Week in Baseball

Recommended Posts

Calling balls and strikes is the umpire's most difficult job. Fans don't really have an idea of how hard it actually is. Yes, that pitch was a ball, but if you went through every pitch, you'd find a bunch of pitches on both sides. Its usually not egregious.

Giambi, Sheffield, Posada, Matsui, Williams in the ninth. If they can't do this for me, really, I have no idea what worth the theam has.

Yeah, if you can't score two runs in an inning off the best f'n reliever in the National League, what good are you?

Especially when they only have the best record in baseball. Those worthless scrubs

That last pitch was a ball.

YA FUCKING THINK?

Yankees quest to end the steak ended by gross incompetance and the Dodgers. All ten of them.

Good Lord.

I wish I could find a picture of strike two to A-Rod, which was almost as bad.

Oh please. The 3rd base ump blew a call in the Sox game, and you don't see either Frigid or I going off like you are.

Didn't you just say a page or so ago that you were trying to not get so worked up over all things baseball? Guess that's out the window.

The hell? K-Zone is clearly drawn a few inches to the left of the edge of home plate. Take a ruler to your screen and hold it straight. And considering you only need to nick the strike zone, there's a good possibility that pitch was a STRIKE. If it missed, it missed by mere inches.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

wow, they really did screw up the K zone. How odd. And funny, given my hatred of ESPN's baseball broadcasts.

It was apparently drawn that way to reflect a camera angle that wasn't entirely straight.

If you were able to straighten the angle out, they'd match up.

Ah...fuck AS and his whining. The Yanks have the best record in baseball...why must you whine? I'd hate to see what you become when the Yankees become bad.

If the camera wasn't matched up straight on, home plate would appear at an angle.

It does to me.

The bad years are what turned me into this fucked up person I am.

Okay, I've been experiencing a searing pain right where my right kidney is ever since A-Rod struck out and I, uhm, through a book through a window. Is that bad and are they somehow related?

Should I seek medical help?

The plate looks pretty straight to me. What picture are YOU looking at?

The other shot, but it could be me seeing what I want to see.

Either way, matching it up with the K-Zone or the way the plate appears to be, it's outside. It doesn't catch either.

I just assumed the camera thing because the angle looked a little off and they had been doing it that way all game. Someone in ESPN had a reason for deciding that that K-Zone was correct because they never fixed it.

Still erase the white box and it's still outside.

And I think I'm gonna pass out.

Oh, fuck it.

There's no guarantee that a walk would have meant anything anyway.

It's over, I know what really happened, and maybe this will finally get the ball rolling on doing something about these Umps this year.

The bright side is, if we have to face the Dodgers in the World Series, the Heart of the Order (minus Posada) all did well against him

I'm gonna move on.
