Jimmy Rave done with ROH...

It's stuff like the works and they 'we don't do sports entertainment' 5 minutes before they have Low Ki pretending to pop pills with Special K that puts me off ROH.

It would be interesting if people took everything said by every promotion as seriously as they take things said by ROH. The "We Don't Do Sports Entertainment" was/is a gimmick. Same for the whole "Code of Honor" concept. If people didn't pick up on that when the opening segment of the very first show was the Christopher Street Connection kissing in the ring then getting jumped by the Hit Squad, then I don't know what to tell you. It would be like someone getting on the WWE for booking two, bland run of the mill wrestlers in a match on RAW in 1999 when they were spouting off about Attitude or getting on the WWE now for having a DQ when they are telling people to "Escape the Rules." They are slogans and gimmicks....nothing more, nothing less.

I only saw Rave in Wildside, and at that time, he was the epitome of what I hate in a worker. Sure he had abunch of sloppy looking high-spots, but the way his matches were put together just made me sick.

If he hasn't improved a great deal since then, I don't see why ROH was using him in the first place.

By the way, the only ROH I've got is Era of Honor. I pretty much thought it was garbage outside of Eddie/Crazy. The 3-way ME had some really cool spots, but it didn't really draw me in as a whole.

So, is that disc typical of ROH, or have they really improved since then.

Try All Star Extravaganza.....if you don't like that......you won't like anything they do.

A) Where can I get it?

B) Do you agree that Era of Honor isn't great?

C) Mind giving me a quick synopsis of what's on it?

As an ROH fan, I say Era of Honor most certainly isn't great. It was the first show! They were still on a limited budget and testing the waters. How many debut shows have really been great? It would be like watching Demento vs Taker and deciding that everything ever shown on Raw must suck. I can't remember any debut show that was great...

Watch stuff like All Star Ext and just about any show from 2003 onwards to get an actual feel for ROH.

As for the Rave situation, if this somehow isn't a work and it just magically happens to tie into the current storyline perfectly, I wasn't a Rave fan anyway, so I really won't miss him. The only times I truly enjoyed his matches was when he was in there with someone that could carry anyone to a good match, like his match with Daniels. I've seen him in a few others I've enjoyed outside of ROH, but he still wasn't anything amazing. Sure, there are worse on the ROH roster, but the loss of Rave (temporary or permanent) is not something I'll lose sleep over.

Anyway, back to ASE, it has: Brilliant gauntlet series that is just excellent, excellent six man tag of Prophecy vs ROH, also includes Masato Tanaka and Shinjiro Ohtani vs Low Ki and Corino. The gauntlet series featuring London, Dragon, Styles, Red, Punk and Michael Shane is worth the price of the tape alone.

But personally, I don't think ASE is the best ROH show like many others do. It's the best show from 2002, "the early days", but I think they've had plenty of better shows since. ASE should still serve as an ideal introduction though.
