Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Source: PWInsider WWE put their new dress code rules into effect this week. Now, all of the male workers are expected to show up to house shows in dress shirts and slacks, and females in more classy outfits. This kind of public attire was traditional for the PPVs and TV tapings, however people were usually more laid back for house shows, and more casual. Most of the wrestlers understand that WWE wants them all to look their best for the public, and don’t have any problems with the new house show dress code. Former ECW star Chilly Willy (William Jones) is expected to be at this week’s WWE TV tapings. He worked backstage last week at the RAW raping in Albany, NY. He me with WWE officials, and was invited to attend this week’s RAW & Smackdown, so there seems to be some interest in bringing him in. Jones is currently stationed in New York for the remainder of his military service, and he received a purple heart from the military, after he was shot in Baghdad, Iraq. There were quite a few surprised people at the house show two night due to the fact that Eddie Guerrero and John "Bradshaw" Layfield used some comedy in their match. The general feeling backstage was that since these two are in a very heated feud, there shouldn't be any comedy during their matches. WWE management has told Mark Jindrak to work harder at becoming a heel. The feeling is that he should be more over as a bad guy right now. The word from Springfield, Illinois is that Chavo Guerrero, Sr. once again no-showed the house show without calling management. No one within WWE, not even his son, has spoken to him in days and superstars are starting to worry about his situation. Although it was expected WWE would punish Guerrero for his absences, the greater concern right now is what happened to Chavo Already working full-time at WWE Headquarters in Stamford, as well as for Byte This, it is expected that WWE is allowing Tommy Dreamer's in-ring contract to expire. The terms of the deal cease to be binding in a few weeks. At this point, it is not expected that WWE will release Dreamer. Rather, he will continue performing his current roles and possibly be used in a way similar to Al Snow (aside from his commentary duties), where he can work a match or angle as needed, but still make money taking indy bookings. We expect to have more details on this as the week progresses. Credit: 1wrestling.com Many wrote in wondering why WWE RAW, which is listed as going from 9:00PM EST. until 11:05PM EST., ran all the way to the 11:22PM EST. point last night. We have the answer, and it's pretty simple. Due to the time WWE dedicated to promoting the second season of "Joe Schmo" during their live RAW telecast, which happened to be in the neighborhood of 10-15 minutes, SpikeTV allowed WWE the extra time to wrap up their main-event. WWE took full advantage of the extra time, especially the announcing team, as the duo tried implementing the "overtime permission" from SpikeTV as a way of making the main-event seem more important. I always wondered what happen to Chilly plus I always liked the guy. Could add a little something to the Smackdown roster as long as he isn't paired up with Orlando Jones. Jones is currently stationed in New York for the remainder of his military service, and he received a purple heart from the military, after he was shot in Baghdad, Iraq. From what I remember of him in ECW, I wasn't impressed with the guy as a worker. But I have nothing but respect for him as a person. If memory serves me, he joined the military in the wake of 9/11. Sorry to hear that he was wounded, but if's going to be working tapings, than I'd assume he's back to good health. I wish him nothing but the best. Although it was expected WWE would punish Guerrero for his absences, the greater concern right now is what happened to Chavo What's the deal with Classic? Is it the typical Guerrero problems (glug glug)? At this point, it is not expected that WWE will release Dreamer. Rather, he will continue performing his current roles and possibly be used in a way similar to Al Snow (aside from his commentary duties), where he can work a match or angle as needed, but still make money taking indy bookings. At least he'll still be getting a paycheck.

Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Chilly Willy was good fun in ECW - he'd be a good man for house shows providing he had enough TV exposure. Although I would be worried WWE would play up his shot wound in a patriotic American sort of way in a pathetic gimmick on SmackDown! I can see it now in feuds with Dupree, Suzuki and anyone else that comes from outside America and thus MUST be a heel.
Guest BDC Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Maybe be a face foil to Bradshaw? No... wait... that idea sucks.
Only The Strong Survive 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 I hope Chavo is okay. Hopefully he'll make it to the Smackdown! taping tonight considering he's the champ and will probably be in at least one segment. He's kind of a necessary part of the show at this point, no matter how much he doesn't desire to be there.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Thanks to Bob Carrothers for this: Raw off air report from Nutter Center- Dayton, Ohio Dark match: Rhyno pins Rodney Mack (with Jazz)- Big pops for both. Rodney looks good coming off the injury. -This was the only dark match. I was disappointed as I was hoping to see some developmental guys work (Mike Bucci or Carly Colon maybe). SPOILER Heat: Coach and Al Snow make their entrances. Al is over big with the home-state Ohio crowd and makes us boo the Coach (TNA should hire Al to direct crowd reactions at Impact). By the way, these guys must be ventriloquists. Neither one opened his mouth while "calling" the matches live (talk about talent!) 1) Val Venis pins Stevie Richards with the Money Shot- Stevie seems to be doing Christian's old "frustrated crybaby" gimmick. 2) Maven pins Joey Matthews after hitting the Stroke- Maven looks to have bulked up during his time off. 3) Shelton Benjamin pins Garrison Cade- No details here-- in line for refreshments. SPOILER OVER Raw Notes: - Lots of T-shirt cannon and video packages get us to the start of Raw. - JR and the King make their entrances. The King seems to have ditched the old "Royal-gear" for a sport coat. Part of the new dress code perhaps? - Lillian sings the National Anthem- She was good as usual but couldn't they have dusted off Ray Charles singing "America the Beautiful" at WM in honor of his passing? - Just a repeat of a common complaint that comes up in almost every WWE TV taping report: PUT YOUR &*^$%$^ SIGN DOWN!!!! We all know "Flair is old", "Benoit Rules", no one cares that you "(heart) Alicia" and the saying you think is really clever.... isn't! - During Raw LOTS of dead time where the crowd got nothing. They did run out Tajiri vs. A-Train during the Joe Schmo package (Tajiri gets the pin with the roundhouse kick to the temple), and we saw the Divas: South of the Border video package. - The opening segment dragged and wasn't helped by the 2nd segment being nothing more than HBK's ambulance ride. - Eugene is over HUGE. His pop may have been helped by Nick Dinsmore's developmental time in Louisville and Cincy but everyone genuinely seems to enjoy the character - No idea when Raw actually went off the air but the 6-man main event ran until almost 11:25p. Post-match Benoit poses with the belt as HHH helps Orton up the ramp. Benoit cuts a short promo about being "for real" and we all go sit in traffic around the Nutter Center for 45 minutes. - I'm not good at estimating attendance but Nutter Center can hold 12,500. There were a few sections with parts tarped-off (and of course no one sat behind the TitanTron) but the seats that were available were filled. Crowd was VERY hot all night (WWE's first taping in Dayton in a long time) but the show came off rather lame in person. Of course my opinion may be off, I went to the Ring of Honor show on Saturday and my expectations may have been unfairly raised by the quality of the ROH show. Several people have emailed us asking what the deal was with the Shawn Michaels injury last night. For those curious, he was not hurt and the entire thing was a planned angle. There had been talk for a few weeks now that Shawn would be taking some time off after the Hell in a Cell match to spend time with his wife who is expecting another child in the next month or so. We have been told that Shawn and WWE reached an agreement last week and signed a one year contract extension. He is expected to be back in time for SummerSlam to likely face Kane. World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. will issue its fourth quarter and year-end results for fiscal year 2004 on Monday, June 21, 2004 after the market closes. -- Thanks to John Daly & 1Wrestling.com for the following: Filmforce, a popular movie news and reviews website, is reporting that The Rock is currently the frontrunner for the title role in a comic book film adaptation of "The Sub-Mariner". For those of you who aren't familiar with the character, the Sub-Mariner is basically Marvel Comics' version of Aquaman, with a darker persona. The super-hero has maintained a cult-following for several years.
