Shanghai Kid 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 I think the Rock in 97-98 was the best IC Champion of the modern era. He held the title for what, 7-8 months? His heel character and mic skills were both top notch. Nation of Domination Rock just gave classic material I clearly remember 3 great feuds. The first with Steve Austin- Austin throws his belt off the bridge. The second with Ken Shamrock- Remember that vicious chairshot to Shamrocks face? And the last with HHH- Another good feud, ending with the ladder match at Summerslam. Their was also a feud with Farroque thrown in there. The Rock just seemed to take great pride in being the IC Champ. The only reason he lost the belt was so that they could move him up to the World Title picture. By the end of his reign the people were pretty much cheering the hell out of him. Anybody agree that the Rock was the best IC champ in a long time? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Was he a good IC champ? Yes. But I would still rate Michaels and Mr. Perfect ahead of him. There was no real feud with Austin, at least not over that belt. Right after he tossed the IC title into the river, Stone Cold spent the next few weeks hitting Stunners on everyone from Jeff Jarrett to Santa Claus in preperation for the Royal Rumble.
