2GOLD 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2004 The real bad part of this is the workers who came out in defense of ROH and said they believed them when they were informed RF was gone from the company. I feel bad for those guys cause now they are finding out that he was never gone and they had the wool over their eyes as well. You had a feeling this wasn't going to go easy and it really hasn't. I understand wanting to defend the wrestlers ROH fans, but I don't understand defending the company that lied to not only you but their own employees about who was in control. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2004 When it all gets sorted out...there will really be no reason not to support RoH. However...digging up the thread where certain board members started to explain how businesses are sold...and how RoH should be taken at there word because "what more could they offer as proof?" would be fun. Well...my answer still stands as "ANYTHING."...but now we know why that was too much. I hope they get the split done ASAP...and then just to be a dick I hope the Jarretts let Styles and Daniels go back to RoH...it would not only take the heat off of TNA for pulling the talent...but it would highlight where the wrongs were done with how everything was handled ever since the original story broke. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2004 I hope they can get it sorted out, I actually wanted to see ROH before all of this started to happen. But right now, no I want nothing to do with the company. Once all is sorted and RF is 100% gone with concrete proof then I'll gladly support ROH. Right now, no chance.
Styles 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2004 Some notes from Jason Powell of PWTorch.com: -One of the main battles Ring of Honor now faces is finding access to promoter licenses in Maryland and Pennsylvania. The company has been paying fees to promoters who have their own licenses, but the Pennsylvania promoter they had been going through backed out after Rob Feinstein started telling anyone who would listen that he was still involved in the company despite management's claims to the contrary. ROH management was forced to scramble to find a new promoter for the upcoming show in Philadelphia. Sources report that Chuck Williams, who wrestles as "The Rockin' Rebel," agreed to provide his license in exchange for a fee and for a spot on the show. One source reports that Williams's demands were specifically for a $5,000 fee and to win a match, although that has not been confirmed. Normally, ROH is able to secure access to a promoter's license for a smaller fee, but the company was said to be scrambling to find one to prevent cancelling the Philly show. The company also appears to be without access to the New York area, as promoter Frank Goodman has said he will no longer use his license for ROH events. However, there is no state regulation in New Jersey, so the company should be able to promote shows there. -ROH officials have been buying new video equipment as a result of Feinstein taking his equipment back. Sources say the company has purchased at least three new cameras, and one source estimated the value of each camera at $4,300. The source also notes that the company had to purchase a new ring, something that can cost as much as $4,000. -Sources are also reporting that Feinstein has been telling friends that he would like to start a new promotion and sell tapese of its events through R.F. VIdeo. However, the source points out that he would likely encounter even more problems than ROH officials are when it comes to obtaining access to a promoter's license in several states. -Observers say Gabe Sapolsky now finds himself in the same situation that his mentor Paul Heyman was in trying to juggle multiple roles behind the scenes. He was strictly in charge of booking until the Feinstein controversy erupted, but he's been forced to take on more responsibilities since then. Meanwhile, Doug Gentry, who recently left the company with Feinstein, was heavily involved with ROH production, so that's just another role someone in the company has to fill. Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2004 Feinstein is deluding himself if he thinks he can start a new promotion. Who the hell is going to work for him? Buff Bagwell?
Guest Deviant Report post Posted June 20, 2004 Dave goes in detail revealing how Rob never intended to be gone and in fact had been working out of the RF Video offices the whole time (in fact when Gabe said they were gonna change RF Video's name it never happened because Rob vetoed it). Apparently it was in April when Gabe found out for sure and he stopped talking about the subject. Doug Gentry knew about it the whole time and is considered just a paper owner and in fact still ROOMs with Rob despite Gabe and Silkin's protests. So basically Silkin has bought out Rob's share of ROH and is looking to get him to sign a no compete/confidentiality clause because Rob both wants to start his own new promotion with Doug and further more claims he will reveal that Gabe knew he was around the whole time and they want to silence him. Meltzer even hints that Gentry never really signed the TNA form since he was in on it with Rob the whole time, which might further explain TNA's banning of its workers from ROH. I want to say one thing up front: NEITHER side has produced ANY proof publically. The public has nothing to go on whatsoever. Now, allow me to play along... - Rob is working out of the RF Video offices even though a simple monkey with a camera could prove that he's reporting to work ad therefore give concrete proof that he is still working? Why haven't we seen such proof? - An idea of Gabe's was stopped by Rob, and yet Gabe found out LATER that Rob was still involved? Who else would have stopped the name change? One of the guys putting labels on tapes? - Maybe Gabe stopped talking because he said everything he was going to. He said the same things 500 times. The fact that he stopped proves nothing except for the fact that he got sick of the repetition, and perhaps even wanted to move on and put it behind him... - Doug and Rob still talk to each other and see each other on a daily basis, absolutely solid proof that Rob has interaction with ROH, and yet once again we get nothing but an unsupported one-liner? Proof would be dead-set simple to get on that. Proving the link causes ROH to basically die, which is their goal. Why wouldn't they have gone ahead and done it already? - Silkin bought all of Rob's connections? So in other words, this is confirming that Rob is gone. Thanks for proving he's gone. Shall I assume we won't hear any more on this from now on then? - Let's see, ROH is having trouble because some people just suggest that Rob is involved, yet Rob thinks he can't start his own company? So this company will be operated out of Rob's backyard and will feature absolutely no wrestlers then? Great plan. Sounds like a winner. - Now Gentry never signed the TNA thing, despite that being completely undenied for months now? Did Doug invent a time machine and erase that signature, or did TNA Boy over at 1bullshit.com feel like covering up for ROH? TNA has proof of a huge ROH lie, and yet it hasn't turned up on the site with links to TNA that seem to get off on hurting ROH? Seems a little weird... In conclusion, everyone is bitching about the lack of proof from ROH. We have now been told of roughly 5 ways it can be proven that Rob was still involved, yet nobody feels like proving it? And if Rob was gone, but was merely in the process of legally transferring his stuff to Silken and such and still wasn't profitting, it makes no difference, and now we have been told that Rob has indeed transferred those belongings/positions/etc to Silken and has split himself from ROH completely. Guest Jimbo Report post Posted June 20, 2004 Can't Gabe just go and get promoter's licenses in Pennsylvania and Maryland? How does one do it?
Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted June 20, 2004 If anyone reads the story in this weeks Observer (which I just did), then it's pretty clear that the public was lied to. Now whether that lie was necessary - that's a whole other issue.
