Guest curry_man2002 Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 Has the angle vs lesnar match been put on any wwe dvd's yet , if so which one. Plus if it hasnt been on any dvd yet do you think it will be on any future releases, like a kurt angle dvd for example.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 Hasn't been on a DVD yet. I highly doubt they would EVER put this match on a DVD, especially uncut. With Brock no longer working for them, and Angle is currently out of action........I don't think this one will see the light of day on a DVD release.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 It's a really weak match overall and I really hope it never comes out on DVD.
Guest Choken One Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 They will put out an Angle DVD (they already made, just keep holding back release date)...I can see this match being covered in Highlight Form since it is a significant match as it was a) the first tv Ironman match b) The "blowoff" to an significant feud in Angle's career c) the match where brock reinjured Kurt's Neck and took his recovery time from the Jho surgery down severely to the point where after 6 more months, Angle effectively retired pretty much for good. Full Hour? No way but 10 minute highlight clip, no question. Angle has many other better matches then this one.
Art Sandusky Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 Yeah, the Lesnar/Angle Ironman Match has no place on an Angle DVD in its entirety when it's *** tops.
Guest whitemilesdavis Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 I think it could be on a DVD within a couple of years. I'm with most of you in thinking it was just OK, but just the idea that they had an hour long wrestling match on TV kind of symbolized their change in philosophy, from entertainment to wrestling. A lot of reviewers rated it really high, and though I disagree, I do see the significance of it as stated before.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 I thought we agreed to never speak of that match ever again? They will put out an Angle DVD (they already made, just keep holding back release date)... It was supposed to come out on my birthday. They pushed it back to release the DVD with nothing on it for Cena. Really, it was such a subpar match to blow off a well below par feud. Just forget it.
Lil' Bitch Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 If Brock ever comes back, it wouldn't surprise me to see on there as an extra for a 2nd Brock DVD. I'd like to see the match in its full entirety although if you intercepted the satelite feed of the show, you probably would have gotten all 60 minutes, but no commentary at all to go along with it.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 If an Angle DVD EVER comes out, I don't see it hapening or want to. They could easily put 10 matches way better than that on the DVD instead. If Brock comes back, I don't care. I didn't buy his first DVD and won't buy another others of him.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 I'd like to see the match in its full entirety Are you sure?
Enigma Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 I remember being so excited about this match and it turned out to be a huge disappointment.
Guest Jimbo Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 I remember being so excited about this match and it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Me too. That was when Hurricane Isabel hit Washington. All these trees were knocked down, loads of flooding, and the city was a mess. Needless to say, I wasn't getting any power. I was freakin' out because I desperately wanted to see hte match. I ended up wasting $30 for one of those crappy battery powered half inch screen jobbers just to see the craptastic affair. Man was I pissed.
Guest 2pacallyps Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Please let all the tapes of this match be destroyed. I don't think I have ever seen a worse iron man match than this. They're two amature wrestler's and they do no mat wrestling what so ever. The psychology is all over the place. Angle works on the right leg and then put's the freaking ankle lock on the left. Even Shawn in his ironman match realized that he was putting the cross arm breaker on the wrong arm and swithed up. They just build the match the wrong way.And the Larry Zbyszko type stalling in the beginning didn't help either.
Guest 2pacallyps Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 This match should have been on pay per view. WWE should have paid me to view it.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 And the real kicker is that the booking of the match, which I assume was trying to rebuild Brock after an awful six months, made BOTH guys look bad.
King Cucaracha Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 And the real kicker is that the booking of the match, which I assume was trying to rebuild Brock after an awful six months, made BOTH guys look bad. But, but...Brock used the chair. He cheated! Didn't that want to make you boo him! In all seriousness, if they release a HBK/Flair/Benoit style DVD with Angle's career best matches on it, it's the kind of match that the WWE would consider a classic and would probably be put on. It shouldn't be, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Despite Brock no longer working for the company, I could see it on the Kurt Angle DVD when it's released and/or a 'Best of SmackDown!' kind of thing.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Yeah - the stalling is what holds it back from being perfect. Hey Kotz, hope you like my username idea.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 This match gets ****1/4 Out of ten?
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 your "turning a new leaf" sure didn't last long Sault.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 your "turning a new leaf" sure didn't last long Sault. I thought not blindly praising an Angle match was a step in the right direction. I don't think calling it a **1/2 match and an unbelievable letdown is really so out of control.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 "out of 10" is a little much though. You've made it clear that you consider it a subpar match. taking it to that level of hyperbole isn't achieving anything. and I'd put it at **1/2
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 **** or ****1/4 Stalling aside, great stuff.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 I edited. After the stalling at the start, they kept the pace going rather nicely, and same for the ending, but Angle could've finished Brock off with an AngleSlam rather than keeping that Ankle Lock locked-in.
Art Sandusky Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 He's agreeing with the post above an earlier one of his up there that said ****1/4. This Ironman match, when I try to remember it in my mind, just shows up as a pile of overbooked crap. **3/4.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 It was a fitting match for that feud to give Brock the title and to turn when SmackDown! didn't have a PPV then.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 "out of 10" is a little much though. You've made it clear that you consider it a subpar match. taking it to that level of hyperbole isn't achieving anything. and I'd put it at **1/2 **1/2 out of five is roughly equivalent to ****1/4 out of ten.
Art Sandusky Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 It was a fitting match for that feud to give Brock the title and to turn when SmackDown! didn't have a PPV then. Brock was already a heel. He'd been once since before SummerSlam.
