nogoodnick 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 I honestly don't expect Oregon to win against OU. Theyve never really faced a team of this caliber. Sure they beat Michigan last year but that was at home. Im just happy that there is a good team on the non conference schedule. Oregon has scheduled some pansies this season. Its not actually that big of a deal if we lose this game. We dont play USC this season so the only real challenges in conference are Cal and OSU. I think at worst we lose 2, maybe 3, conference games. Im hoping for an undefeated conference record. It could happen and we could end the season possibly 10-1 and get an at large BCS berth. nogoodnick 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Michigan beat themselves that game my friends Michigan had -3 rushing yards. -3. Maybe instead of making excuses we could say the Ducks frontline fucked them up. They were pretty good last year. Olishansky and Siavii were picked in the beginning of the 2nd round of the draft. "We tried to run the football, but give Oregon credit. The completely stopped our running game." Lloyd Carr
AlwaysPissedOff 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Alabama at #24? Bama's still living off the memories of years past. This year will be better than last year, but not enough to warrant a pre-season Top 25 ranking. Wait, you complain about Bama and don't mention Auburn? Auburn lost so much talent on defense it's not even funny. Throw in the fact that Jason Campbell sucks ass and it's a wonder that Auburn was ranked too. Besides the point, however... pre-season polls are useless and always have been. Hey Dama? Mind posting the write up on Alabama while I'm thinking about it? Damaramu 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Alabama: Bamaallowed 333 pts in 13 games LY which borke the schooll record(287), but 2 of their games were dcided in OT. bama was in an extremely rough situation last year and finish 4-9 but out FD'd Oklahoma 19-13, had 2 OT losses, looked past NI(lost by 3), and lost to rival Auburn by 5 so they could easily have had a much better record. The Tide was 3-8 in 2000 and rebounded to get a bowl game in 200 and are in much better shape this year with 14 starters returning. Keep in mind just two years ago they basically won the SEC West(best record at 6-2) and outgained SEC foes by 152.1 yp, the best mark in the league. Last year they were pegged for either 3rd or 4th in the SEC West but I picked them 5th(SI only other magazine to peg them that low) and that ws mostly due to the rough offseason and the fact they had benefitted from +15 turnovers the year before. While Bama is coming off their first 9 season loss in 48 years, they played, arguably the toughest schedule in the SEC last year and the Tide should be in much better shape now that Shula has had an entire year with the team. The schedule is also more conducive to success this year as teams that have early season success gain confidence and Bama could be favored in their first 7 games(which makes them a surprise contender in the SEC West). this will be the first time since 1927 that the Tide doesn't play a game at Legion Field. They do have tough road trips to Tenn and LSU but with home games it should be a season much more palatable to the Tide faithful. The Tide is my 2nd most improved team in the country which means they should be back in a bowl. You know I was at work during the OU/Bama game and I heard the score so I didn't pay much attention to it. But people act like OU escaped by the skin of there teeth? Were they really having that much trouble? Or was it just a close game? People act like Bama was beating on OU but they didn't seem to fare much better. Auburn got the blowjob from hell last year before the season, but they still performed OK and have a decent offensive unit left. Bama, OTOH, has had about one good season out of the last five and has gone through an unbelievable amount of coaches quickly. That being said, I'm not expecting much out of either team. LSU wiped the floor with both last year and, even with a new QB, receiving corps, and defensive front, they're going to do it again. If I was going to call "overrated" on any team in the SEC, it would be Georgia because their O-line is pathetic. Show me a team with a good defensive unit and I'll show you David Greene laying on his back every other play. Unless their O-line steps up, they're going to be in trouble when they face a REALLY good defense. (This doesn't mean that Georgia's a bad team, but I don't see them as a Top 5 team until the O-line steps up)
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Well of course they'd look bad against LSU. Good defenses make good offenses look bad. OU had the top scoring offense in the country and LSU's defense ate them up. Then again OU's defense turned around in the second half and gave us the defensive battle we were looking for....but by then it was to far gone....... Anyways moral of the story is......a great defense is better than a great offense. But you all already know that.
