New Lance Storm Q & A

Recommended Posts

(HA! Beat the guy who posted the last Lance Storm commentary, try and steal my job will you.)

Q and A

June 24, 2004

Q: Did you make it as far as you wanted to when you first broke in?

A: I made it much farther than I ever expected in this business. I was never one to set goals for myself as far as titles in the first place, but I certainly never expected the success that I achieved. When I first broke in a 225lb guy was fairly limited in his prospects. I never expected to come as close as I did to capturing a World Title. My Nitro match with Booker for the WCW Title was the climax of my career push.

Q: Is there anything besides performing every night that you miss since retiring?

A: You are assuming I miss performing every night, which oddly enough I don't. In time I may miss performing, but I doubt I will ever miss the "every night" aspect.

Q: Thoughts on Paul Heyman as a "Creative Genius".

A: As I've stated before, I don't like throwing that term around, but I would have to say if anyone deserves it Paul may be the one. His biggest creative strength is knowing how to promote and book people. No matter how big or grey the cloud, Paul can always find that silver lining, and get them over. So many other promoters can't see the silver due to a touch of grey.

Q: What are your thoughts on John Tenta's battle with cancer?

A: I was unaware John had cancer. I wish him all the best. I worked with Tenta in Japan; he's a good guy.

Q: What are your thoughts on Bill Demott and why he stopped wrestling?

A: I love Bill. He and I became good friends in WCW during our long feud. I don't talk to him much now, as we almost never see each other anymore. I don't know why he quit wrestling. It may have been his calls or perhaps the office, I don't really know.

Q: Have you ever wrested: Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Ricky Steamboat, Muta, Rey Mysterio, Ultimo Dragon, or Christopher Daniels?

A: This was actually several questions but I thought it easier to lump all the names into one.

Kevin Nash: We never had a match but we were in the ring together once, and took a big boot, much to the dismay of the several WCW Booking critics.

Scott Hall: I never did anything with Scott, other than a few words in the back.

Ricky Steamboat: Man I wish I could say yes to this one. Steamboat is the template for the perfect baby-face; it would have been an honour to work with him.

Muta: Not in any of his forms, be it the Great Muta, or Keiji Muto. We were in WCW together for a while, but never worked.

Rey Mysterio: I've worked with Rey a ton. We worked in Japan, WCW, and WWE. Rey is also quite possibly the only person to possess photographic proof of me being drunk.

Ultimo Dragon: Dragon was the one who cemented me my job in Japan with WAR. We had countless matches over there.

Christopher Daniels: Chris and I met in WCW, and finally had the chance to work together during my time off between WCW and WWE. We wrestled 3 or 4 Stampede shows together before my WWE debut.

Q: Is there a City or Building you wanted to wrestle in but didn't?

A: The one building I would have loved to wrestle in was the Tokyo Dome. The Dome show was always the big deal when I was working regularly in Japan. Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto would have been cool to. As for cities, I can't think of any.

Q: What are you thoughts on Multi-Vitamins?

A: I don't take vitamin as I feel a well balanced diet is the may to go. If for some reason you aren't getting a balanced diet, a vitamin might be for you.

Q: What is your favourite kind of gimmick match?

A: Generally I don't like Gimmick matches, so I will pick the Iron Man Match, because it is still basically a straight wrestling match.

Q: Do you guys read all of the wrestling bios?

A: You can't group us all together. It would be like asking if all fans do. Some of us do some don't.

Q: Have you ever wrestled and of the WWE Divas?

A: I've wrestled a few of them. Jazz and I did a mixed tag in ECW. Molly and I did a mixed tag as well. She even pinned me in that one. She hit me with her Molly-Go-Round off of Big Show's shoulders. I'm pretty sure I've wrestled a mixed tag with Lita as well.

Q: Was there a particular move that injured your back?

A: No there wasn't. 14 years of bumping had its effects. I first noticed the problem in a match on RAW with Booker T. I took a wonky bump on a Body Slam in that match which is when my back started bothering me. The feud Regal and I had with the Dudley's was very bump intensive and further aggravated it. The strong that broke the camel's back was then getting run into a turnbuckle by Mark Henry in my one and only tag match with Goldust.

Q: Is it easier for a Guy or Girl to make it in WWE?

A: This is a weird comparison. I think for the right girl it can be easier, in that if you are pretty enough and get the right connection you can get in right away and have an easy job. But in general it is likely harder for Girls because there are so few spots for them.

Q: Have you ever wrestled in Australia?

A: Yes a couple times. I was over there for both WCW and WWE. It was always fantastic.

Q: Which of the Harts was or is the best wrestler?

A: With out a doubt Bret. He is arguably one of the best wrestlers ever, so he is definitely the pick of the litter so to speak.

Q: Of the Non-Harts to be trained in Calgary who is or was the best?

A: Damn that covers a lot of talented people. I likely don't even know the entire list. I'll simply take a guess at Benoit.

Q: Now that you are retired, what do you miss the most?

A: Thus far I only miss one thing and that is seeing all the boys I've become good friends with.

That's it for now, keep those inquires coming.

Lance

What was this about? Was Storm in the middle of his push when Nash did this? Sounds like typical Nash. Someone gets over, hit them w/ the big boot and the poochie bomb.

When Lance was winning all of the undercard wcw titles and renaming them, just after he had won the cruiserweight title and was celebrating, Nash came down threw him round like a jobber and went on with a promo about shooting, basically ignoring Storm...

Lol, I bet there's a weird story behind that...

Good read, as always.

I miss Nash's pointless "free scott or i'll shoot for 30 minutes" promos...
