Guest Junkyard Willie Report post Posted June 25, 2004 It's been almost a decade since the Dogg Pound's first album "Dogg Food" came out. That album went double platinum off of the "New York New York" controversy where Snoop kicked down the buildings in the video and because everyone on Death Row was going to go platinum regardless. The album was weak in my opinion. This summer Suge drops Kurupt's new album "Against the Grain" and the track they have featured on youngotti.com sounds unbelievable. Daz Dillinger seems like he's going to go platinum for sure. In 98 he dropped Revenge, Retaliation and Getback. In 99 he dropped "RAW." In 02 he droped "This Life I Lead" - 3 of the most well produced, well mixed albums I've ever heard. They didn't sell because all the tracks were about gang-banging and killing, shooting, drug dealing, fucking. All that shit was passe and shiny suits and shit were in. Now he's back on a record label after giving 50 Cent some Tupac vocals. He's guest appearing on Young buck's album, has completed a DPGUnit Mixtape - and his new shit sounds SLAMMIN. I think he's the first non-Dre west coast artist to go platinum in YEARS....any fans here? And for those who've never heard of him: Daz's new single for the summer "Boyz In The Hood" f. Nate Dogg and a few examples of some old mixtape gangsta shit he built his fanbase on. And another right here.
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Daz is doing well behind the boards for So So Def, he should stay independent because I doubt he could go platinum.
Guest Junkyard Willie Report post Posted June 26, 2004 All it really takes to go platinum is a catchy hook, and 2 solid singles. Dirty south production is in, So So Def has the muscle and promotion . Plus Daz is sucking 50's dick left and right...in G Unit videos and mixtapes. If this Nate Dogg single becomes a club anthem, or if he gets a hit single with Snoop, he's made it back to the top. Kurupt is definitely going gold with his new album though. Death Row's new production team (ever since Darren Vegas was fired) is really something special. Live instruments, innovative synths. It appears as if the industry can't blackball Suge forever, he's in good with Cash Money and The Source now.
