Looking back at the Raw the night after King of the Ring '98—which had a similarly surprising title change—its ratings were third-highest of the year. I think this would be a really good week to schedule a live SmackDown!. While I'm sure there are some who will be completely turned off by last night's events, there's bound to be plenty more thinking "I've gotta see what happens next". Or, in several minds, "How do they dig themselves out of this hole?" Then there's the possible trainwreck factor. In any case, the Bradshaw win (and the Bearer "death") has certainly generated interest. While I'm not optimistic about the situation, I'm curious to see if they can create something worthwhile. And the curiosity is bound to grow even further if I, and everyone else can't read about it two days early.

I don't know if they should have a live show, but I do agree with your statement about some people wanting to watch just to see what happens next. I really want to see what they end up doing with Undertaker now that he's a heel and Bradshaw now that he's the champ. This is probably the first time I've actually been interested in Smackdown since before the Royal Rumble.

Just move the show to Thursday night that was originally booked for Tuesday. Might give them more time to come up with something intelligent to explain all the crap too.

I wish they'd go live this week, but I don't see it happening.

They're going to book an arena, sell tickets and set up travel arangements for all WWE employees in the next couple of days for this live show?

Or they could pimp it hard on Raw, show it live Tuesday, then again Thursday during its regular slot. The first live event I ever went to was a semi-impromptu live Tuesday SmackDown!.

It doesn't look like the arena they're scheduled at has anything going for Thursday, but the event calendar on the website is broken.

If Moony shows up in TNA when he is healthy again from his surgery and recovery...that will be a FU to the WWE creative concepts...

But but, he's suppose to be dead!

Spoilers don't hurt ratings. Going live might keep us in suspense, but for the other 99% it wouldnt change a damn thing. If they have curiousity going into thursday, it will result in good ratings live or night.

For me, Smackdown is more a IM PISSED OFF AND DONT WANT TO WATCH ANYMORE than I WONDER WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT.

but thats just me

I don't think it'll help anything, and I'm sure it's bound to hurt RVD at least once, but there is a more important feel to live smackdowns, maybe it's only because I know it's taped, but there's definetly a different atmosphere to the show when it's live.

They did manage to postpone Smackdown and do a live Thursday show once before, but that was because of a huge, life-altering national emergency and all.

Well if they move it to live then I wont be able to watch it, which might be a good thing since I sit up til 2-3 am watching it and it kills me on thursdays because I dont get much sleep. And I can't tape it because I don't have a VCR hooked up to that satellite box anymore since my main VCR doesn't work anymore.
