Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 28, 2002 Yes. She was Driving. Her death is not that important in comparison to George Harrison but MTV will continue to talk about it...It's not the entire group were killed but merely the bratty trouble making thug whom caused her own death by driving in reckless speeds (in the afternoon, might I add) along with 5 or 6 other passengers. However, Left Eye can have her 24 hours on MTV...G.H got a cover of Time. Nobody in TLC will ever be on that magazine.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 28, 2002 It's one thing to be bitter, but talking shit about dead people is tasteless. People speed everyday, do you think everyone that speeds should die? As far as her getting 24 hours on MTV, think about the age of the people who watch MTV. TLC appeals to the people who watch MTV, TIME is for the older people. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I'm just giving my opinion on why they would do that. If were the "dickheads up in here" then u should tell that to the people in my school who didnt give a shit about Layne Staley or Goerge Harrison. I see all these tributes for her and shit for Layne. And if black people hate me why should I like them???

Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted April 28, 2002 Eek! I stay away from the board for two days and suddenly the topic of Lisa Lopes' death becomes racially motivated? Yuck... that's tasteless. And for all who call me a "hater", I can't vouch for the others who have posted in this topic who didn't like Ms. Lopes (some of whom have been quite tasteless, and yes, I mean the bad kind), but I think I summed it up the first time: I'm not bitter, I didn't like TLC's later music and Lopes' solo raps, but it's always sad when someone dies, unless they were a "bad" person, and no matter how much someone may dislike pop music or any style of music in general, unless Ms. Lopes did something "bad" like acted out of hate towards others or hurt or killed innocent people, she, like anyone else, does not deserve to be disrespected in death. I hope that clears me from the "haters" list. I firmly believe in respecting the dead, as I mentioned earlier. I'm admittedly not a fan of The Beatles, but when Harrison died I wrote a dedication to him in the paper, and I'll probably do the same for Lopes.

Guest Ripper Report post Posted April 29, 2002 "of his best friends ride" not "trying not to die" Jeebus dude, you might want to edit that out. It would've been bad taste even if that was the lyrics but you got it REALLY wrong.
Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 Did MTV do a tribute for her or anything?
Guest Ripper Report post Posted April 29, 2002 They've been showing all of the interviews and videos they have of her. Thats about as much of a tribute as they have gotten for her so far.

SHE BURNT A FUCKING HOUSE DOWN BECAUSE SHE WAS A CRAZY FUCKING BITCH If she wasn't famous no one would care and she would just be "another dead criminal" which she is. Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted April 30, 2002 I didnt like her antics that she did, BUT MAN ALL THIS DISRESPECTING IS UNCALLED FOR, because when she did burned up Rison's house in which it was accidental, Rison was the one who bailed her out of jail and forgave her for it. I got question for all of you guys when was last time you heard of her doing anything negative since that incident? that shit was a long time ago anyway people make mistakes. and since then she matured alot and was doing charity work in South America (also her spritual retreat). So you guys can say all of the negative shit that happen in the past, atleast she was doing postive things and matured as a person before she died.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 30, 2002 Not my fault that Andre Rison is an idiot and that her record label made her try to repair her image.
Guest BATMANvsJESUS Report post Posted April 30, 2002 Don't get me wrong, I'm not glad she's dead. She was just human....just because she was on tv, radio, cd's and lipsynced all the time on live performances(MTV 20, I think it was)doesn't mean she deserves all that attention. Nobody deserves to die, and when they do it's sad. But it's no sadder than somebody in my family passing away. We should all be treated equal...even if we are 3rd rate pop stars. And to people thinking I don't like R&B and Rap...fuck off. I do, it's just there's too much fluff in those areas. Aaliyah(sp?), Left Eye and the other one that died....they're music lacked heart and inspiration in my mind. Guys like George Harrison, John Lennon, Janice Jopplin....those people LIVED and BREATHED music. They didn't run out there spitting pop-laced crap. So, I fealt a little worse when they died because the music world actually lost something. R&B and Rap stars can be replaced with the snap of a finger nowadays. Seriously, if Usher were to explode within the next week, two weeks later somebody just like him would come along. 2 pac was a loss to the industry. Cobain was a loss to the industry. Shit, Elvis was a loss to the industry. They all paved forward. Aaliyah and Left Eye kinda just sat behind drinking Evian while everybody else made strides and they would just dress sexy and make up songs that didn't require any thought or practice to enjoy. Let me put it to you the best way I probably can. If your dancing on stage gets in the way of what words and emotion are supposed to be coming out of your mouth....then you aren't an artist....you're a FUCKING JOKE. Guest Ripper Report post Posted May 1, 2002 I think to say that George Harrison, Janis Joplin and others loved music more than Aaliah and Lisa Lopes is ridiculous. They were just better at it. Did Michael Jordon love the game of basketball any more than Steve Kerr??? just because he was better at, doesn't lessen or greaten Steve's love of the game. Lisa Lopes and Aaliah also "lived and breathed" music. Aaliyah was singing since she was what, 4?? Lisa Lopes has been writting songs since she was what, 10-11??? You may like Joplin or Harrison more, but it is a ignorant statement to say that Lopes and Aaliyah don't desreve to be remebered and that they were souless people that didn't care about music. All those pop stars you guys hate are giving their life for music. They are putting all of thier energy into making music(it might not be good music, but its what they can do). They work just as hard a Harrison and every other muscian in the past. They give all of their talent to the music, other people in the past just had more talent to give. And to those that say that her death isn't anymore important that anyone elses and she shouldn't get the press for it. Um, I am willing to bet you are the same people that when a star gets mad about people being all in their business say "It come with being a star deal with it." If people were aloud to be in every little nuace of her life since she became famous, why shouldn't she garner attention after her death. Some of you guys are just ignorant pricks that have no repect for the dead. But then again, its ok to for someone to die if you don't like thier music...right.
