Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Friday, 7/2: I pack all day, because I know I'm leaving for Pennsylvania with my girlfriend and her family after work. I work from 5 to 10:30, which is half an hour past closing, just to clean the place up so that nothing goes bad (the pizza parlor I work at is closed until July 12th). I'm sweaty, smelling like pizza, and I drive home quick for a shower, a change of clothes, and a drink or two. I drive over to my girlfriend's, and we eat half of the pizza that I made before leaving work. Saturday, 7/3: From 7 in the morning until 5 at night, we're in the van driving to southwest Penn. South Fork is the town. We arrive, and we unpack. Dull day, as it was a family reunion for her mother's side of the family, and I didn't know anybody. We set off fireworks at one of her aunt's house, and the baseboard fell over, shooting a few right towards us. Fun, fun. Sunday, 7/4: I spend almost all day in the pool. Three of my girlfriend's cousins - Teisha, Sheraiah, and Angela - climb all over me and I continue to throw them into the deep end. Dull day. Monday, 7/5: I get a sunburn from the previous day's swimming, as I didn't wear sunblock. I usually don't burn, though, so I'm surprised. We spend some of the day in the pool, but mainly stay near the shelter (a roof built in the yard) while a bonfire goes, and then rain pours down for nearly an hour. We go back inside and watch Full House for the rest of the night. Tuesday, 7/6: I spend all day at the pool again, and get WICKED burned. I put on a lot of sunblock, but it doesn't matter. The three cousins are still climbing all over me, and I toss them around, but not nearly as much. It's hard to sleep, because the burns are so bad (and all over my upper back and shoulders, so I can't move my arms or lay down comfortably). I finally end up falling asleep around 2:30 in the morning by holding towels drenched in ice cold water on my shoulders. Wednesday, 7/7: Another van ride, but this one takes 11 hours instead of the previous 9. We ride back up to Massachusetts, and when we finally get back to my girlfriend's house (and her family's, mind you), I call home to notify them that I'm back safely. My mother tells me to call my friend Emily, because she left a message regarding our friend Tina. I call Emily, and she tells me Tina died. She was in the car with her parents, and they were having a bad argument, and so she jumped out of the moving car, and ended up hitting her head on something. She was on life support for a day or two, but there was no brain activity. Essentially, she's dead and not fighting for life. So yes, I know there's been a year without me having to report the death of a loved one, but there you go. Fun week, eh? My skin's so read from sunburn that I feel I should go to a pow-wow, and a friend of mine that I've known for the past 5 years dies.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted July 8, 2004 That sucks man. Sorry to hear it. Losing a friend is really a shitty experiance. Hope everything works out for her family... And sunburn is what you get for calling me a dumb shit in the rush last week.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 I was going to make a witty comment regarding you powerbombing the cousins into the pool but it would probably be in poor taste given your current situation. Sorry to hear about your loss, Laz.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted July 8, 2004 She jumped out of a moving car with her parents? Was she expecting to land on her feet or did she have "issues"? Not to be callous, but that just sounds like suicide to me. Which is a horribly lame way to go out. I feel for your loss thoughj.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Is your girlfriend or her cousins black? The cousins names are very black sounding. Also condolences to you but jumping out of a moving vehicle? I'm sorry but that's got 7 levels of stupid written all over it. Either way her parents are going to place the blame on themselves, so if she intended to hurt them through this rather than just get out then mission accomplished. Are you in Central Mass? If so I'm going to look for this in my newspaper. When did it happen?
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 You're more likely to not die jumping out of a moving car than to die, depending on where the car is. If she was on life support for two days, it would seem this happened on Monday, which would be a little odd, cause some kid I knew died that day as well. Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 1. My Bitch, AKA Voice, I've gone through the whole "losing a friend" thing twice before. This one hurts a little less because it's the third friend I've known that's died, but inversely, it hurts the most because I knew this one better than the prior two. 2. Curry, make the powerbomb joke. Laughter is the best medicine, dig? 3. Yes, Banky, she had MAJOR issues. 4. Frigid, I thank you for your kind words from AIM earlier tonight. It actually meant a whole lot to me. And no, they're not black. Heather, my girlfriend, is the "shower" girl that was in my sig a while back. Pale as a ghost. Her cousins are only tan because they're always outside. White as can be (aside from the tans). And I'm not in Central Mass, but towards Rhode Island. Hell, I'm 10 minutes from Cumberland, RI. 5. IDRM, that is odd. What's even odder, though, is that my sister has had a connection to each and every person I've known, personally, that has died. Outside of family, I mean. Timmay was the nephew of her friend Kelly's boyfriend, Jeff was Timmay's cousin and friends with some of my sister's friends, and Tina is the daughter of one of the people that her friend Regina's boyfriend plays horseshoes with.
