Bastard Windows keeps saving JPGs as BMPs.

I'm using Windows Xp on a brand new PC, and it's been absolutely fine for the past month. But the last couple of days, when i right click and Save As, it will only save JPG files as BMPs. If It's a linked, thumbnailed image, I can Save Target As and it'll save it as a JPG no problem, but if I see, for example, a nice picture in someone's sig, I'm buggered unless I want a bitmap file (which I don't).

Can anyone help?

Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz

Clear Internet Explorer's cache.

Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files button.

Looking at porn with IE is a bad idea, you'll risk being overrun with dialers and more porn popups than even you want. Get Mozilla and install the Paranoia extention. Two clicks and all your tracks are erased.

Thanks al lot, my brother.

Advice taken, though I was more or less kidding with the porn thing - I save LOTS of pics to make t-shirts and CD/DVD covers, amongst other things. I figured trying to play innocent here wouldn't fly, so I just thought I'd steal everyone's dirty-minded thunder. Thanks again.

Although, if you are on DSL/Cable/etc with no Analog Modem installed then you are quite safe from dialers. ;)

If you have to stick with IE try grabbing popupkiller and the google toolbar, between the two of them I rarely see a popup even once and then never again.

Popupkiller may be hard to find so try

You should set a smaller cache size for temporary internet files in the Preferences, and set it to automatically clean thsoe files out.

Of course, the better option is just to ditch IE completely and try out Mozilla or something. :nods:
