Guest TheJewof2001 Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 SNL used to be on Comedy Central and E!, but no longer is. Why is this the case and is it ever going to be back?
Mole Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 I was never a fan of SNL, but I could watch it every now and then. I can't stand Mad TV though, ugh, it just sucks. *paging Bob Barron*
Guest TheJewof2001 Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 You didn't answer my question Mr. Mole.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 I know that it is off Comedy Central and Comedy Central got MadTV because E! bought all the rights to SNL. Originally they only had the rights to the early seasons, that's why you could find the original episodes on E! but CC would only show from early 90s on. Then E! bought all the rights, were showing recent ones but then they disappeared. I don't know what happened after E! bought the rights.

NBC sued E! because they were going to do a clip show without asking for NBC's permission. E! was like "oh you sue me? yoink, SNL's not being shown, bitch!"
Mole Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 My sister just told me that E! plans on showing SNL either sometime in the fall or early in 2005. They are going to start with the 90-91 season, well that is what the e-mail she got back from E! said.
Guest TheJewof2001 Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 You didn't answer my question Mr. Mole. He's good at that. He answered the question later Mr. Peck. Thanks Mr. Hermit and Mrs....er, Mr. Mole.
bob_barron Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 Deranged Hermit pretty much got it right. It's one of those incredibly stupid and petty things that could probably be easily resolved but is getting dragged out for no reason. I was never a big fan of the SNL reruns. I don't like that they're clipped down to an hour cause I always feel like I'm missing something good. I prefer to watch the Classic SNLs that come on after SNL on Saturdays
JasonX Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 E! was like "oh you sue me? yoink, SNL's not being shown, bitch!" Really? I heard that as part of the lawsuit over the planned E! clipshow was that NBC, in a fit of anger over this, evoked a clause in their contract with Viacom over SNL that essentially nullified their contract regarding airing SNL, which is why SNL reruns aren't on TV...
