It's strange how all the women in the previews who are operating that space ship/station are teens. Did chicks like them get smart all of a sudden?

From the look of the movie, I would say probably not.

I saw it tonight and loved it. It was an absolute riot. Please take note that I am an old school F13 fan who has seen the last 4 in the theatre and pretty well enjoy the entire series. If you are a casual fan or don't really care about the F13 movies, chances are you will hate it.

If you are a die hard fan, I can't see why you wouldn't enjoy it. It has bad acting, bad dialogue, bad F/X, girls walking around in skimpy outfits, a sex scene, nudity and a lot of blood and gore (as much as the MPAA would allow them to show). Also, it's very funny, and a lot of it is intentional as the movie kind of makes fun of itself (especially the Crystal Lake holodeck scene).

I'd recommend it only for real F13 fans. Otherwise stay away. You have been warned.

The movie sucks, but of course that's what you expected, right?

Ok, so there's a couple cheap B-movie laughs.  (and one GREAT scene that involves a hologram of Camp Crystal Lake) but other than that, watch at your own risk.

I saw it.

I just want to say I've been a fan of the series since it began. My favs are Final Chapter and 6.

Jason X is one movie the franchise could have been without.

Jason X is one of the worst horror movies I have ever seen. The music is horrible. The dialog is horrible. NOTHING makes sence. Teenage girls are scientist? Jason gets a knew costume after being destroyed WHY?  Why is Jason murdering people in the space ship when the only reason he is killing people is avenge his mother's death?

No, it's not horrible in a "80's slasher" type way either. I wish they didn't make this movie. Now they can't even make another DECENT Ft13 because Jason is 400 years in the future. Put Alien/Termanator together and this is pretty much what this is.

Check it out if your a fan of Ft13 sereis, but don't expect it to be in the same league as the others.

Here's hoping Freddy vs Jason makes it right again.

Later.

I didn't think it was any better or worse than the other F13 sequels. If you enjoyed the previous entries, I don't know how you can criticize this one, it follows the exact same formula. Also, don't read so much into the movie. The girls weren't scientists, they were students, and besides the point, does stuff like that really matter? The purpose of an F13 movie is to get a bunch of 20ish people together and have them get killed off in different ways by Jason. That's it. Jason X accomplished that, plus they threw in some self reference jokes which made it even more fun for an F13 fan.

Don't ask so many questions about the movie, remember, you did watch Friday the 13th part 10, not some new sci-fi horror spectacle.

Id just like to chime in to say that as a diehard F13 fan, I loved Jason X. There have been sequels that sucked (5), but this one didnt. By the way, Jason doesnt only kill to avenge his mothers death, he also kills to avenge his own "death" and out of self preservation, but its true that it doesnt really matter. The movie accomplised what it set out to do.

Super-Jason kinda reminded me of Super-Shredder from Ninja Turtles 2.

Wouldn't it be cool if Vince created an angle where guys dressed up as the Turtles came out and challenged Kevin Nash to a final fight?

If we're going with 80s nostalgia, why not?

Jason X really isn't the same kind of movies as the others. It didn't remind me of an 80's slasher like I was hoping, but more like a sci-fi porno movie with Jason.

I saw it Saturday and it the typical Jason, but if you don't go expecting a Lord of the Rings plot then you'll probably get a few laughs, especially at some of the kills.  And if you happen to catch some of the "intellingent" puns, you'll get a kick out of them too.  Glad they haven't lost their edge.

The movie was great for me and the audience.  jason got a few standing ovations, and for once nobody talked during the movie.  Halloween 8 is coming out one day before my birthday, expect the death rate to be low.

Well, maybe it's cause everyone talked during the movie I didn't like it. I really thought it wasn't as good as the rest though.

Hopefully Halloween 8 (is it Ressurection or Homecoming) will be better.

IMO, only Halloween 1 & 2 were good.  The rest are crap.  Too many sequels ruins a good horror movie: see Krueger, Fred(dy), Vorhees, Jason, and Myers, Michael.

Eh don't get your hopes up with Halloween 8. It sounds truly horrible and has a rather shitty plot. HeII the studio was going to take what they had and make it a direct to video movie until Jamie Lee Curtis convinced the studio to let them reshoot some scenes to get a theater release. That's not a very good sign.

The producer of the Halloween movies (Moustapha Akkad) said that he intends to keep making sequels until part 22 or something.

Btw, I actually enjoyed parts 4 & 5. Maybe partially cuz they were the first ones I was able to see in the theatre. I wasn't crazy about 6 or 7.

And yes, H20 sucked because it became "Scream", and "I know what you did last Summer"!

There didn't need to be any sequils to Halloween. Maybe part 2, but 3-7 (Especially 3) should've stayed on paper.

And how would Freddy vs. Jason work? Wouldn't Jason vs. Michael Myers be more...well not realistic...but plausable I guess? I mean, Freddy is in ppls dreams, Jason doesn't appear to ever sleep. And if it were just both of them killing in the same movie then it would be just plain awful.

And I'm all for a Cowabunga vs. Kevin Nash feud

The ending to the first "Nightmare On Elm Street" movie left much to be desired.  The first Halloween was awesome, way better than any of the generic slasher Freddy/Jason crap.

Why not just get Freddy, Micheal Myers and Jason all in one big slasher movie and have them just trying to kill each other.

That would be cool, and a very good way of ending each series.

Slight Spoilers In Here:

I saw Jason X this past Saturday along with my girlfriend and one of my best friends, neither of whom have never seen Friday the 13th.  I gave them the whole "rundown", much like the timeline we have going here on the forums, but needless to say, it didn't come into play.

It was funny, because in talking about them, I told them that my favorite death scene was the "Sleeping Bag Swing" in Part VII: The New Blood.  It figures that as soon as I mention it, it gets almost parodied in Jason X.  However, the death scene in Jason X with the "Frozen Face Smash" has quickly moved up the ladder.

My girlfriend, who isn't big into horror movies, came away thinking it was pretty good in some parts, but found the middle (one death after another after another) to just be kind of thrown together and pointless.  She did like the ending, and has made mention to me that she'd like to see some of the older ones.

My friend, who has watched horror movies from Halloween and NOES right down to Night Of The Living Dead 3 and Grim (don't ask), said he liked it, probably because it entertained him (it's not that easy, lol), and probably because, much like my girlfriend, to them it is a "Stand alone" movie, and they didn't have to remember anything from a previous movie (unless they wanted to catch the in-jokes that were inserted).

As for me, I liked it.  I'm a fan of all kinds of movies, whether it's Academy Award nominees or movies that USA refuses to show at 3am on a Saturday.  Jason X ranks up there with the "fun" horror movies, where you can turn the thinking caps off, sit back, and have fun with it.

Jason vs. Freddy, I await you.

Halloween 1 and 2 were good. H20 was trying to be like Scream to much. 3 was just....yuk.

Damnit...Halloween 3 wasn't THAT bad. Sure it was terrilbly stupid to name it Halloween 3, but Season of the Witch wasn't that bad of a movie. The only reason it gets bashed as much as it does is because of the horrible decision to call it Halloween 3.

I am confused at how Jason X even came to be.  I mean, does Jason die in every single movie.  Doesn't he explode or something and get pulled into hell by Freddy in the last Jason movie.  And does he disintegrate in the sewers in Jason Takes Manhattan?

How about a personal challenge to anyone who can name all of the ways that Jason has died in all ten movies just from memory.
