Dark Age 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2004 I loved Raw at the time. But if you watch on old 99 Raw now, you notice the suck. They don't hold up AT ALL.
Guest Champ Report post Posted July 21, 2004 1999 was much more fun of a product, but 2004 is more wrestling-based. It really depends if you like sports enterainment or pro wrestling.

Unfortunately, the greatest wrestling match imaginable couldn't necessarily bring ratings up. Good storylines could. Sad but true
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 1999 was way better than 2004. All the storylines made sense and were very compelling, (at least up until Russo left; Big Show's reign was horrible). True, if you go purely on the star ratings of the matches, 2004 was better. But Raw and Smackdown were just so much more interesting in '99 that it doesn't even compare. I'd take Austin on an embalming table (even though that was actually '98) over Paul Bearer in a concrete crypt, or Kane's history being pissed, shit, and vomited on anyday. The very best periods of wrestling in the WWF/E were the second half of '98, and 2001 up until the Rock left, but '99 was way closer to the "right" way to do things than 2004. Promoter 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 1999 All the storylines made sense *laugh* 1999 really had some of the most nonsensical storylines ever. I second that "It was me all along" "Momma said your a bastard ha ha" "The Undertaker believes he is a real undertaker" "Going somewhere Stephanie" "That's daddy's little girl's stuffed teddy bear" Storylines: After a year of feuding with Austin and making his life a living hell, Austin the anti-authority figure not only brings back Mr. Mcmahon to television after the "End of An Era" match he helps him win the championship. Anyone else can put down some more of the nonsensical storylines of that year?
