Guest Donners Report post Posted July 22, 2004 One of the first things I said when I heard about the six-sided ring was that it'd be interesting to see an Ultimate X in it. Could be an excellent match.

Dark Age 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 Has Shane been in every Ultimate X match?
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted July 22, 2004 Yes, and though he garners a lot of hate on this board, he really works this gimmick very well. His win in the first UX was probably the coolest moment of his career.

Sorry, but these matches just don't click. -=Mike
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted July 22, 2004 They are both good on the DVD. They edited out the "technical difficulties" and they both come off as really good matches. I do remember seeing the 1st one live, and it was just a disjointed mess.

The 2d one was better than the 1st one (even edited, it didn't work) --- but this match gimmick just doesn't really work too well. -=Mike
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted July 22, 2004 I'm not a fan of gimmick matches, but this one's OK with me. In edited form I like the first one better. Shane's big bump to the outside, and subsequent flying to the belt like a chimp, made for a great ending. Oh, and don't forget that nasty bade job.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 Ultimate X1 was a ** affair. Blown spots galore, and Sabin had to carry both Kazarian and Shane, and Sabin isn't at the point in his career when he can really carry anybody. Ultimate X2 was ****1/4 by my watch, and the MOTY so far for TNA. LowKi and Daniels made it all the more interesting, and this was around when Michael Shane started to actually NOT suck in the ring. Sabin winning in the same type of match where he lost the X-Division title? All the more ownage. Ultimate X3...sucked. **1/2. It was ALL Sabin, with Petey Williams being the only other person in the match doing anything close to carrying their weight. Hector Garza was shit in the match, and every spot done was just a repeated spot from one of the prior UX's. Ultimate X4? Overkill. Think about that. We've had four Ultimate X matches since September 2003. 4 matches of the same gimmick in 11 months. That's to the point of overkill that Ladder Matches in 2001 WWF were. TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 Who thinks they're doing this just so they can make a Michael Shane DVD with several high risk matches? Just me? D'OH!
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted July 22, 2004 I'd buy a Micheal Shane DVD before an AMW DVD.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted July 22, 2004 I'd buy a Micheal Shane DVD before an AMW DVD. Honestly, I think Michael Shane has even surpassed AMW on my "sucks to watch him/them list".
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted July 22, 2004 Really? I don't see the problem with Micheal Shane. The only complaint I ever heard was that he wasn't X-style. Not that he's brilliant, but I don't think He's that bad. I must also admit a little bias. He wrestled an indy show at my town's city park last year. I always end up pulling for the guys that come to my town.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 Him and Kazarian make a decent tag team. I've been impressed with them, but not much.

It actually surprises me that Shane hasn't been approached by the WWE considering that he tends to work the "WWE style" aka he's boring and very unimpressive. I understand the love for the local indy guys......but to each his own.....he's not my cup of tea.
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted July 22, 2004 Actually, i guess mediocre describes him pretty well. I'm no Shane mark, but I don't mind watching him. He was really funny at the indy show. I wish he'd get more time to show that.

Don't rip on the amount of UX matches in the past year. Remember how many Ladder matches TNA had in it's first year? AJ vs Lynn vs Low-Ki AJ vs Lynn Sabu vs Malice Shamrock vs Sabu Shane vs Kazarian X Division Invitational I'm sure there are more than that.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 And I ripped on them for overexposing the Ladder match gimmick, too. Your point? 4 matches of the same HUGE gimmick in one year's span should NOT happen. That would be the equivalent of a HIAC at Rumble, Mania, SSlam, and Series. It also doesn't help when only one of the three thus far have been good.
