How many HRs can Beltre hit

Recommended Posts

Jul 24 Adrian Beltre has been bothered by bone chips in his ankle all season, but he continues to play very well through the pain. On Friday night, Beltre cracked his 26th home run of the season in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Padres 3-2. "He's out there hopping around on one leg and he's having the greatest year of his life," teammate Milton Bradley observed. "He's just amazing."

This is insane, Beltre is hitting Grand Slams with a bum leg. How is this possible.....did Adrian find a secret stash from BALCO or what?

Its not entirely uncommon. Phil Garner had his best season in 1979, playing with an injured hand. The injury kept him from overswinging. Ted Williams had a broken bone in his right foot in 1941.

If that is the case then what is your opinion on Chipper Jones? The first half of the season he is batting .220. Will the change from outfield to third base help increase his batting average to what it once was? Can Chipper hit .300 for the second half of the season?

I can't say much, other than his 2nd half numbers will likely progress towards his career averages. Anything else is idle speculation.
