Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted July 29, 2004 Though I personally detest the genre...the leading "true gore" series on the market today is Todd Tjersland's Faces of Gore films (although these are several years old by now, there may be more updated/juicy grey-market tapes in certain circles). If you're not specifically looking for "true gore" films, just something in that vein, Tjersland's fictional Necro Files films, although fictional, take a similar approach - very gory, with plenty of misanthropic, depraved humor. And, while I appreciate Ravenbomb's recommendation of Salo, unless one doesn't mind a bootleg (and, according to that auction, a misframed bootleg), avoid any and all Salo auctions on eBay, unless it's the Region 2 version released by BFI/MGM (or, if a seller is really ambitious, the Region 2 French version released by Carlotta, although this version doesn't have English subs anyway), or absurdly expensive (in which case it's better and cheaper to import anyhow). I've also heard Cult Epics' release of In a Glass Cage bests Salo, both as a DVD and as a film (although I haven't seen it, so, like the Faces of Gore/Necro Files stuff, I can't really say for sure). Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2004 Salo is really horrible. Like, in the way shitty movies are shitty.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted July 30, 2004 Salo is really horrible. Like, in the way shitty movies are shitty. Come, come, let's be fair. It's a chocolatey movie, in the same way other films of its nature are chocolatey.
