Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 No Twins prospect listed but that's fine. It's a stacked organization. Probably Top 5 in all of Baseball. Also of note. In most cases the true prospects are in this case Double AA. Triple AAA has alot of journeymen like Midre Cummings, and guys like Bucky Jacobsen who spend like 6 years in the minors. Triple AAA has alot of journeymen like Midre Cummings, and guys like Bucky Jacobsen who spend like 6 years in the minors. The key is to look at their ages. For example, the Phillies have Ryan Howard and Gavin Floyd at AA Reading. Howard is 24, and Floyd is 21. Floyd is MUCH more likely to succeed, based on the fact that he's three years younger. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 why won't they call up Pickering? He's like the Bonds of the minor leagues. Because the two times he has been called up, once with Baltimore and once with Boston, he was unable to even touch Major League Pitching. Calvin is slowly becoming the Crash Davis of MLB. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 well I know he's not actually any good, but it seems kind of silly to leave a guy in triple A when he's gonna hit like 350/500/800 every year. Well, what can they do with him? Can't call him up cause he can't hit major league pitching. Can't send him further down cause he'll hit more homers but won't develop. Can't cut him loose cause if he does learn to catch up with an MLB fastball you look like an idiot. Best bet is to leave him in Triple A where he can crush the ball and grab you some AAA titles. Also, you keep your fingers crossed he learns to get over his Cerano complex.

Bored 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 Mike Wood(Sacramento(OAK), SP): 2.80 ERA in 15 games. 66 K’s vs 24 BB’s. He was traded to the Royals in the Dotel deal. A's will potentially have four rookies on their opening day roster next year. SP Joe Blanton (7-7, 4.64 ERA, 99 K, 30 BB) -He's struggled a bit this year but still has a very good strikeout-to-walk ratio so not too worried. OF Nick Swisher (.267/.419/.522, 20 HR, 68 RBI) 1B Dan Johnson (.315/.412/.556, 22 HR, 93 RBI) RP Jairo Garcia (Single A - 30 IP, 0.30 ERA, 49 K, 6 BB; Double A - 16.1 IP, 1.65 ERA, 30 K, 12 BB) -Called up to Triple A yesterday.
