I've been sitting back and reading some of the Monty Brown topics here and a lot of people seem to dislike The Alpha Male's finisher, The Pounce. Some say that it's a weak move and shouldn't be called a finisher. I disagree.

As you all may know, Brown is a former linebacker for the New England Patriots and has some extensive football experience. Brown is also a big, buff guy. If somebody with the size and build of Monty Brown ran at you full speed, jumped and hit you with a big, jumping shoulderblock you better believe it'd knock you the hell out. I also like how his opponents sell the move. He basically knocks the guy halfway across the ring, or as Tenay would say, separate their head from their shoulders.

If guys like Edge, Goldberg and Rhyno can use the Spear/Gore and make that into a credible move then why can't Monty Brown, a guy that's about the same size as Goldberg, if not bigger than him, use a similar move in The Pounce? I think it's a devastating move and it's one of the moves I mark out for nowadays.

The biggest problem with the Pounce is barely anyone sells it right. They take it like a regular should tackle when they should sell it like he just broke them in half. That would make a world of difference with how the move comes across.

By using your logic, the match would be over as soon as Monty connected with ANY move. I mean, he used a clothesline! He's a big guy that played football...that should knock you out. He hit a fallaway slam...well...he's a big guy that played football.

I think part of the reason why it's not credible is because you have people like Petey Williams hitting Canadian Destroyers right before Monty Brown comes out and shoulder blocks some jobber. It looks bad.

That's not quite the idea. I was comparing The Pounce to having a large person lunging straight at you at a pretty decent speed. The Pounce is kinda like being tackled in a football game except you have no gear to cover you up.

If Goldberg(Let's use WCW Goldberg for this example since he was a bit heavier back then) lunged straight at you at full speed and speared you, it would most likely put you away. That's the point I was trying to make about The Pounce. The smaller the recipient of the move, the harder it hits.

It's all about mass + speed = impact. It's simple physics.

Using your logic, no finishers are credible..

Take Raven's for example.. a DDT? How many times do wrestlers use DDT's during a match? Does it knock their opponent out?

Finishers are just that.. it doesn't matter what they are.. the idea of having a "finisher" is all real cartoonish..

A) Goldberg and Edge only use it as a set up for their finisher. If you go back and check those threads again, you'll see everybody said the pounce would be good as a set up for a real finisher.

B) I think he's billed as 25-30 lbs smaller than Goldberg, and let's face it, he's just not Goldberg. Love him or hate him, when Goldberg first started, he connected to the fans in a HUGE way. Brown just doesn't have that yet.

And, I agree with Coffey, most guys sell it like crap. Just like every other shoulder-block they take, except for some reason, this one renders them helpless.

The Pounce would be more believable if, like others have said, people didn't just sell it like any other old shoulderblock. Also, I really do think that making it a shoulderblock from the front or the back would make it a LOT more believable, and also easier to sell. It's hard for wrestlers to sell a shot from the side, because unless they cartwheel or spin around quickly, it looks like absolute shit.

Also, Brown should be given the Roaring Elbow, IMO. Sorry, I just mark HARD for that move, and if Brown did it like Masato Tanaka does (where he follows through with the elbow directly into the pin), then I think it'd look swank.
