Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2004 The WWE is pushing for Orton/Cena at Wrestlemania? I hope so, because if worked right, this could be the best storyline for the WWE in years.
UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2004 Don't be so sure the Main Event of Unforgiven is going to be a Singles Match. I expect someone else thrown in to make it a 3-way, there's no way they blow the single's match this soon. Orton/Cena.. I don't see how that could be a great feud at this time. You can't turn Orton heel so soon after turning face, and turning Cena heel is useless because hes still going to get as big of face pops as almost anyone on the roster and if he went up against a face Orton, he would overwhelmingly be the most popular guy in the match. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted August 25, 2004 No, they'll drag this feud out until no one gives a crap anymore. Just look at HHH/HBK and how many "final confrontations" they had in the feud that wouldn't die from the first half of the year.

No one is talking about turning Orton heel so soon. We still have alot of time between now and Wrestlemania. So don't worry about that. Plus why not a face Vs. face match? Also from the PW Torch.... - It now appears that Randy Orton vs. Triple H World Title match will be the headliner for WWE Unforgiven. It was expected for the two to headline WrestleMania 21 a few weeks ago. WWE has decided to speed up the angle due to the horrible ratings they have been receiving and plus Monday Night Football will begin in a few weeks. WWE is hoping that with having a new face to build around it will help business rebound. If this angle becomes a success, the two could still headline WrestleMania 21 for a rematch. There is another idea being tossed around that the WWE may headline the event with an interpromotional match, possibly Randy Orton vs. John Cena, Kurt Angle or The Undertaker. The reason I wouldn't want a face vs. face match is because those only work well when both are mega-over as babyfaces and completely set as the top babyface in the company, and then when they feud the crowd is split on who to cheer for. Frankly, I can't ever see Orton getting that popular(but I could be wrong), and in a feud with Cena I think Cena would clearly be the most popular.
Guest Tjhe CyNick Report post Posted August 25, 2004 I think its just a case of they wanted to hot shot the angle, so they did it, now they need to get the title off Orton so he can chase to Mania. Rock and Austin at WM 15 wasn't their first encounter and that match did very well. So its not like a WM main event has to be a first encounter to draw. I would say if they do an effective job of taking the title off Orton and then build him up properly as a face, people will be into the rematch at Mania. The whole Cena-Orton thing doesn't make much sense to me. I dont see them being able to put those two names on an ad and expect it to draw big money. Niether one of them are mainstream stars, so I think they need the Hunter's and Angle's in the main events with those guys in order to draw big money, or as big as they can given the current climate. Guest GreatOne Report post Posted August 25, 2004 Hell the best main event matches in WM history weren't first time encounters: Hogan/Andre Hogan/Savage Austin/Michaels Austin/Rock (XV and XVII) if you count Brock/Angle from Smackdown in Pittsburgh three weeks before XIX add it too And, if Michaels hadn't weaseled his way in at XX you could have included HHH/Benoit (Austin/Bret omitted becuase of the Sid/Taker mess)
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2004 WWE doesn't want you to remember HHH/Benoit having wrestled in 2000. Jim Ross CLEARLY said before Vengeance '04... "Benoit Vs. Triple H! For the first time EVER."
