I understand the actor Colin Salmon was offered the role of James Bond recently - and accepted. He's already been in the last few Bond movie, playing Charles Robinson. Eon changed their minds a bit though. They had looked at all manner of approaches, including refitting an old Female Bond treatment they had knocking around as a Jinx movie for Halle Berry but they got nowhere in negotiations with her. Salmon is, however, going to reprise his previous role in the new Casino Royale-derived Bond movie. Pierce Brosnan is still not ruled out, but is now Eon's second choice after Eric Bana. Bana has asked for a week to consider the role... he's scared he'd become typecast. Julian McMahon was never mentioned, and was not one of the headshots spotted at Eon. His involvement is likely to be hollow rumour. If you're not sure who Colin Salmon is, he was the goateed black guy in the last few movies. He was also the Scotland Yard chief in Keen Eddie and the head of security in AvP. Would've been interesting to see him as Bond, to be sure... And in case you're wondering what the green light means: GREEN means that the story feels right to me, my gut instinct says go for it. However, as is often the case, while the gist may be correct, the detail may be wrong - and in fact I may be having an off day and the whole thing may be buggered. It wouldn't be the first time.
TSA09 Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 None of this Bond crap is real yet. They are doing a lot of speculation on this. The doctor from Nip/Tuck is also meeting with producers to be the next Bond.
Kahran Ramsus Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I would much rather see Salmon as Bond than Bana. He is also familiar with the role given that he has played Bond in screentests for the Brosnan films sans Goldeneye.
