Guest Incandenza Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 Patience is a virtue when it comes to Sigur Ros. ()'s finest moments rival anything on the oft-compared-to Radiohead's Kid A; at its worst, it's as dull and masturbatory as anything on Amnesiac.
Guest Kinetic Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 My experience with Sigur Ros leads me to believe that they're incapable of recording anything as manic and intriguing as "Idioteque" or "The National Anthem." The overlooked stylistic diversity on Kid A is what sets it apart from most "post-rock" albums, in my opinion. While most of these bands are content to settle for varying shades of gray, that album covers a lot of ground and does all of it well. I can only speak for Agaetis Byrjun on the Sigur Ros front, however, so their new album might be completely different.
Guest Incandenza Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 Let it be known that, though I like it, I find Kid A to be overrated.
Guest Kibagami Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Venice Queen". S.
Guest Kinetic Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 I think it's one of two albums released thus far in the decade that will still be as highly regarded in eight years when "best of the 00's" lists are being compiled. It's a very deeply emotional and striking album. And diverse, as well. Can't forget about diverse. And while I'm not listening to anything right now, I've been spinning the first disc of the Magnetic Fields' 69 Love Songs a bit lately. The stand-out track is whatever the third song is (the one that coins the term "unboyfriendable") but most of it isn't too far behind. It definitely tails off near the end, however.

Guest Incandenza Posted November 20, 2002 Report Posted November 20, 2002 "Holes"--Mercury Rev. More specifically, I'm listening to the entire Deserter's Songs disc. I've had this album for years now, and it's just now dawning on me how gimmicky it is to have a friggin' saw solo during a song.
Guest Flyboy Posted November 20, 2002 Report Posted November 20, 2002 "Squaredance" -- Eminem. I'm listening to my Eminem playlist at the moment.

Nick Cave and Kylie?? Is the song about her getting cut up, then someone using the blood to write Paradise Lost on the walls? I've been getting into Nick Cave lately..he's seriously fucked up in a good way. Right now, it's The Residents-Bach is Dead.
