Slayer Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 I had seen the commercials for it plastered all throughout NBC's Olympic coverage and was kind of intrigued, but got less hopeful as I read more and more about the show. I did want to see on Tuesday but missed it. Reviews I've heard on radio and seen online post-airing are less than positive, however. So, did anyone watch?
Guest El Satanico Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Overall it was a decent show that I could see improving once it hits it's stride. It may actually have time to find it's groove and an audience. NBC put their full support behind it and the show will likely keep decent ratings at least until Donkey shows up. If the show hasn't hit it's stride by the time donkey shows up, then it will be in trouble.
razazteca Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Hopefully this sitcom will last longer than the previous John Goodman series.
Slayer Posted September 2, 2004 Author Report Posted September 2, 2004 That's twice you've mentioned that sitcom in one week Which is more thought than anyone should give to that show
Placebo Effect Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Meh. My general thoughts is that is was trying too hard to be edgy on a network that doens't want edgy. All the virgin, sex, etc. talk just seemed commonplace at this point in time.
razazteca Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 So far the casting of the voices is excellent and I think on this alone the show will last at least 7 episodes. As if being gay was not enough they had to bring in the concept of interspecies lovin!
Tawren Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 If this were a live action sitcom, it would already be cancelled. But they're ANIMALS~! RATINGS~! I watched the episode where the girl panda meets the guy panda but the guy panda loves the girl lion and he brings her flowers and she almost turns on her husband until a wise lion sets them all straight. Pile o' shit.
Slayer Posted September 3, 2004 Author Report Posted September 3, 2004 Just caught the replay It was allright/below-average. The voices were nice, but the jokes were hit'n'miss. And I know the S&R concept is supposed to be central to the show, but I found them annoying and distracting. Just have it be about the animals
razazteca Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Might as well call it Lion King the series since John Goodman and Lisa Kudrow have to carry the show.
