Yes, the Cougars are on ABC this week! Last year, the Colorado game wasn't televised, and it really pissed me off. They don't have a good team per se, but they have a opening schedule that's just easy enough to get to 6-0.

There's nothing like playing a team like Colorado that still has enough name value that it helps your credibility to beat them even though they're not very good anymore.

Oh, and as for games that people outside Washington might care about, Florida St. should finally beat Miami to take the #1 spot in the first edition of the year of my personal college football rankings.

(I don't believe in preseason rankings, so I like to wait until every team's played a game to put my rankings out. Also, USC, Oklahoma, LSU, and Georgia all looked like shit last week, so unless it's a really ugly game, the winner should have the top spot pretty much sewn up.)

UPSET SPECIAL OF THE WEEK: Georgia Tech over Clemson. Reggie Ball's just starting to mature into a very good young QB, and Clemson looked extremely vulnerable last week. Look for the Jackets to take this one by a decent margin.

Guess everyone is watching the NFL game but Troy State is on the verge of the first big upset of the season as they just went up 24-14 on Missouri in the 4th.

How the HELL do you lose to fucking Troy State after you took a 14-0 lead like midway through the first quarter?

Shit I'm starting to think the Big XII should do an ACC deal and put Oklahoma in Division A and Texas in Division B...................

Troy actually had the biggest upset of last week, in a week where there pretty much were no upsets, by beating Marshall. If anything this means there will finally be a decent race in the Sun Belt Conference this year as North Texas has won it every year. Not that anyone cares.

Actually correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't New Mexico State been on the verge of winning it the last few years only to lose in the last week?

Anyway if there's gonna be a challenge god knows it ain't gonna come from Idaho, jesus. And then of course they'll be ripped to shreds at will by Fresno, Boise, Hawaii, and Louisiana Tech once they get to the WAC. Poor Nick Holt, I guess there IS a 'penthouse to the outhouse' in college football.......................

No, New Mexico State has had maybe one good season in the last 5. They were terrible last year.

North Texas has been undefeated the last two years in conference play. This is Troy's first year in the conference and oddly enough the team they have a bye this year against is North Texas. I bet the conference kicking themselves now for that.

Baylor should move to the Sun Belt. They'd have a shot at 3rd.

Actually there was another pseudo-upset last week, Florida Atlantic (who moves into the Sun Belt proper next year) over Hawaii.

I've always thought TCU, who is seemingly on a quest to play in every non-BCS conference in existence, would be a good replacement. But, much like Colorado and the Pac 10, it's likely more a case of the school wanting the conference more than vice versa.

I don't see the Big 12 taking TCU, if only due to snobbishness by Texas, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M because they left TCU in the dust when they left the Southwest Conference.

I could see Arkansas being invited to replace Baylor but there are some hard feelings between them and some of the Texas teams as well.

Could TCU win the Big XII this year? no

Could Arkansas win it? probably not but they'd have a good shot

Hell Dennis Patchin (local ESPNR affiliate/KXLY-TV) made the same point a couple days ago, Boise and Fresno are good teams and can pound some mediocre Pac 10 teams, but they aren't going to win the Pac 10--even this year. Just apply the same to TCU and the Big XII.

Considering the team they'd be replacing, Baylor, is one of the worst Division I teams in a BCS conference (right up there with Duke and Vanderbilt), they'd still be a step up.

TCU probably couldn't beat Oklahoma anytime in the next 10 years, but they'd have a decent shot at beating Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State from the South and Kansas, Iowa State, and Missouri from the North.

Arkansas could probably beat 8 of the 11 other teams in the Big 12 every year. Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas State would be the big question marks.

Beating Oklahoma is a question mark for any team in the country except the most elite. I read today that we have the highest bowl winning percentage of all time and no team has won more games in the new decade than us. As long as Bob Stoops is coaching there it's going to hard for them not to be on top every year.

Yeah but it's not just a matter of 'could they beat Team B', it's also 'could they compete week-in, week-out in the Big XII or SEC or Pac 10 or wherever'.

Consider that I tell my cousin all the time (he wants to go to Texas A&M and play DT) that he doesn't have the size or the speed to play in the Big XII and he should try Rice, Houston, or North Texas or something...........

Mah boys have the week off, but we have friggin' FLORIDA next week. I REALLY wish we had another game under our belt with the two quarterbacks before such a difficult matchup.

Damn. Troy was one of the five or six possible upsets I thought about picking, but in the end I decided to play percentages and went with all of my favorites. They're off to an impressive start after getting bushwhacked consistently last year.

I can not fucking believe that Troy game. I watched the first quarter, and it was an absolute domination. Troy could not gain any yards, and Missouri was getting at least ten a play. I was wondering what the Troy fans were thinking staying in the stadium when they knew they were just gonna get killed. I remember wondering how Missouri could only be up by 14 and thinking they'd win by 50 or so.

Anyway, after that, I watched the NFL game for a while, then I got drunk, and finally I came back here, and saw the final. What the fuck! I watched a little bit of the replay, but I still would have liked to see the second quarter to see how the fuck Troy turned it around. I did see the replay of that lineman running for the TD, but stilll! How do you even start to get momentum after a start like that?

Oh, and that comeback would have never happened in Columbia. It makes you wonder how even the non-BCS schools would be with the BCS schools if they could get fucking home games.

Actually you could have kinda seen this one coming, if you remember that Missouri's game against Middle Tennessee State last year was closer than it had any right to be--and then they got bitchslapped by Kansas the next week.

Michigan/N.D. is going to get ugly as I see N.D. getting shut out even worse than last year.

ARKANSAS? They're, at best, middle of the road in the SEC (It annoys me, to no end, that my Gamecocks have to play them every damned year). They are not all that hot of a team.

I'm hoping. I'm a huge UM fan but I don't know about a shutout. I know Notre Dame sucks but they always seem to get up for Michigan; especially in South Bend.

Ugly first half but what do you expect with two good defenses against Chris Rix and Brock Berlin. You still get the feeling Florida State will figure out some way to lose this.

This has been, without much competition, the worst FSU/Miami game I have ever seen. Absolutely terrible thus far.
