Guest bigm350 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 Is there a Pro Wrestling HOF anywhere? I'm talking about a HOF that covers ALL of pro wrestling since its inception from the carney days. Territories, WWWF, WWF, WWE, NWA, JCP, WCW, Puroresu, Lucha Libre, etc. If not, how cool would it be to have one?

I think right now the closest you are going to get is the Internet Hall, don't have time to run the link but its around somewhere Too much politicking, even with the Fed specific ones (NWA/WCW, the WWF, ect) Plus wrestling can be more subjective due to A) NO ONE really keeps track of "official" stats (Does Flair have 16 championships? Or is it 17? 15? 20?) and lord knows what win-loss records are (Goldberg lost non-TV matches before his "vaunted" streak) B) What one man thinks as crap another man thinks is gold. People might hate Hogan, HHH, Rock, Austin, Flair, ect so much that they will fail to reconigize that they belong in the pantheon, or they might think the candiency of a Chris Benoit or a Chris Jericho might be a cut below HOF worthy Plus, how do you weigh time spent in the major promotions, or how do you define MAJOR promotions. For example was ECW actually considered a major promotions by certain standards? To some it was (off shoot of the NWA, albeit brief they did have a national TV spot, aired national PPVs, they did things that affected the WWF and WCW, they had merchandicing tie ins (shirts, action figures, DVDs, ect) and to some it wasn't (never got beyond "fringe popularity" so some may consider it the Hockey of Pro-Wrestling, never did get its financial situation sorted out, ect) So I think its a very, very hard thing to pull off completely Steve
JHawk 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 The closest things are the Hall in Schenectady (sp?), NY and the Wrestling HOF in Newton, IA. I'm not sure howgood the NY one is, but the Newton HOF covers pro and amateur wrestling and was constantly visited by Lou Thesz before his death. But I don't think you'll ever see one specific HOF that encompasses all federations.
strummer 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 I'm from Schenectady and The Hall of Fame is probably our biggest claim to fame, maybe only behind the giant GE Plant we have and for being the birthplace of Pat Riley. This past Spring/Summer they had a "Hall of Fame" card at Schenectady High School featuring Demolition Ax, George Steele, Doink, etc. I saw it advertised, but decided against going. I think the attitude around town is that the guys they induct aren't "big enough stars". No one is going to get excited about Demolition Ax, Doink, George Steele, Tom Brandi, Lou Albano, etc. They need bigger names to make it more credible. The WON HOF despite problems is the closest thing to this. -Paul Jacobi-
Guest bigboneramon Report post Posted September 25, 2004 I to live in schenectady and the pwhof sucks. Its a little place in the one of the shittiest downtowns in the US. If your a fan of cousin luke , doink (the ray appollo version), or demolition ax this place is up your alley cuz the marks who own this place were dumb enough to have said wrestlers dump their shit there. one more thing the place isn't even open anymore
