mike546 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2004 Torre said, that after they got the lead in game one, they were prepared to let Gordon pitch 2 innings knowing he wouldn't pitch in game two. Like Anglesault, i'm not upset. The worst part of our bullpen blew it, we hit decently, and the worst we come out of this series is 3 1/2. Oh, and come playoffs, it better be SturGorMo. Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 26, 2004 SturGorMo? You really would trust Sturtze in important games in the playoffs? Maybe Karsay can get healthy enough to pitch.
mike546 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2004 Right now I do. And honestly, we need to SOMEBODY to ge through the 7th. If Sturtze can get through the 7th and 6th in a tie game in Fenway, he can get the job done.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2004 KarGorMo? Personally, i'd go with Goriano.

mike546 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2004 OR, in an unlikely situation ... JavyGorMo. Vazquez is dead to me. Isn't that sad though? Rewind time back five months to Javy's first start. Did anyone in the WORLD think he'd have these stats at the end of the season? Kinda depressing when you think about it.

Wakefield is a monster in the playoffs, for some bizarre reason... it's been that way since he was with the Pirates.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2004 When the Yankees' pen can't get the game to Gordon and Rivera, you realize how horrible they are. George needs to stop spending all the bucks for the big bats and aging starting pitching, and get some arms down there. Dude, Torre could have put Gordon in there if he felt like it, right after Quantrill. He was doing what T-Francona was doing, and saving his arms. They're so horrible, that they're in first place. Um, they're sure as hell not in first because of their pitching; starting or relief. That's for damn sure. If you wanna fool yourself into thinking you've got a real quality arm in that pen outside of Gordon and Rivera, shoot me a PM. I've got some magic beans I want to sell you. The bullpen has been our savior the whole year. First have of the season, it was Quantril for the 7th, Gordon for the 8th, and Mo for the 9th. Quantril's sucked the 2nd half, but Sturtze has really stepped it up. He shut the Sox down for 4 1/3rd last Friday, and gave an ininng 2/3rds of good relief last night. The rest of our bullpen blows. Heredia, Nitkoski, Proctor. bleh. I'm not sure why there not using Karsay, but I guess there trying to build his arm strength up.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted September 26, 2004 Heredia did his job last night. The Yankees screwed it up. Anyway, today is a new day. Schilling vs. Brown!

While I realize he's not an ace like Loaiza, I have some faith in Brown. It's already 3-0 with only 1 out in the bottom of the 1st. Brown is working off the rust because of being a fucking dumbass. Edit: 4-0 now, and Loaiza is warming up.

Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 26, 2004 How do we know that? Did we have a futurific simulation on how Loaiza would pitch today? Maybe putting faith in Loaiza will help him sort out his problems and pitch like he did last year for Chicago instead of jerking him out of the lineup at the last minute for broken hand Brown. Guest Sylvan Grenier Report post Posted September 26, 2004 It's over. Wow. 3-0. were done. So yesterday and today's Cubs-Mets games mean nothing to you? Mets came back from 3-0 to win, Cubs are in the process.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 26, 2004 It's not over yet (silly over-reacting people), but against Curt Schilling it's a 100:1 shot. Still, Yankees have comeback 59 times this year to win, so don't put anything past them.
mike546 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2004 Exactly. If Wake was pitching, hell even if Pedro was pitching I wouldn't say it. But this is Schilling.

Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 26, 2004 With one pitch Loaiza gets them out of Browns jam. I'm sure Brown wouldn't have caught that with his healing hand.
